Problems with 99i30t??

I am looking to trade my 96i30t for a 99i30t. I am wondering if this year has any specific problems that are well known to those of you who have owned one. I have read that the brakes, electrical, and ignition are the biggest problem areas but thats pretty vague. Also will it be as hard as I think to find a blk/blk 99i30t or not t that is a 5speed? My 96 is blk/blk touring 5speed, but its getting upwards of 140,000mi and I feel some issues with the gearbox/tranny will be coming soon that I couldn't fix without a shop. How much should I try to get for mine? Body is nice, interior perfect, new tires, new clutch, pilot berring, throwout berring, rear end seal, axle boots all new, as well as new rotors and pads. It is a cali car and been well kept. Any advice/help is welcome.

keep it. 140k isnt bad. esp for a bay area car. when I was shopping for mine, I saw plenty over 200k. the money you spend on a newer car you could put into maintaining the one you have which has what you are looking for already. you might even save a few thousand. a 99 in our area will cost you close to $9k, regardless of trim.

That rare eh? Pretty weak. Im scared my tranny or something will go and I'll be throwing money into a bottomless leather 5 speed pit. Anyone know of any org members in the bay area penninsula that could hook it up with good mechanic rates?

I have a 99 I30t and love it. It only has 60K on it but haven't had any issues. It runs liek a dream and handles pretty well for being stock.

the 98-99 5 speeds are pretty rare...not to mention it being blk/blk. I would spend the money and get the tranny rebuilt if needed. your rings/pistons should have plenty of miles left in them.

keep it and get a spare engine and tranny. They are not expensive.
