new owner ('98 I30) couple ?'s
Hey guys, I just bought a '98 black I30 w/ only 69k miles. It's my daily driver while I work on my project cars. I am the 3rd owner and the previous owner hasn't done any maintenance besides oil changes. I am going to change the tranny fluids, change air and fuel filter, change spark plugs, inspect belts and cv boots/axles, and flush the coolant system this weekend. Is there anything else that I need to do maintenance wise to this car? It seems to be running fine in the 2 weeks that I have had it.
Also, I have read a bunch of the threads here about suspension setups and does anyone recommend the KYB/Maxspeed suspension sold on Ebay. I would like to get rid of some of the brake dive and body roll since I am used to driving sports cars. Also, are there any supercharged I30's and are they reliable for daily drivers?

There is a supercharged I30 but i cant find the link but it is the same as a maxima. Superchargers are reliable, but with all boosted cars you pay to play.
have fun.

No i know all about prawnstar and Mike. there was another one that had an aftercooler w/ the supercharger. I'll try to find it and i'll post it up.
On a side note i sould have my turbo in my (I30) by mid april. So Mike Me and Prawnstar should be holding it down for the boosted I30s.
BINGO!!!!!
I find the thread scroll down and you will see the pic.

YES!!! I can tell you something about the sunroof, (in fact more than you'll want to know.) While you do the maintenance, take some time and clean out all the old grease and black grime from the tracks that the sunroof carrier slides on.
I strongly reccommend the following maintenance to delay the major PIA repair I did this past weekend:
On the underside of the sunroof, there's a couple of black plastic trim pieces that cover the bolts that hold the sunroof to the frame. The trim pieces come off with one plastic screw. Once removed, you can remove the 6 nuts (10mm) that hold the sunroof on and also remove the silver "shims" that rest between the glass and the carrier. Lift the glass up and out of its closed position and carefully set it aside (a scantily clad female assistant helps here).
(Operate the sunroof with the glass removed as little as possible to minimize adjustments needed at reinstallation.)
Look at the tracks the carrier slides on and use brake cleaner or another solvent to remove all the crap that's eventually going to cause the cable that moves the carrier seize and break from the carrier end.
Get some good (light colored) grease and apply it to the inside of the rails on both sides and try to work it in under each side of the carrier where it sits inside the tracks.
Keep paper towels w/ hand soap ready to clean yourself up so as not to get grease on your headliner or seats.
Reassemble the glass and be careful not to scratch the roof of the car. Be sure to replace the shims as they were originally and be patient with putting back the plastic trim piece. The plastic screw and it's insert is a cheap "flange" type that needs to go back in gently so as not to snap off a flange. (You'll see what I mean when you remove it).
Anyway, this will prevent (or at least delay) an 8-9 hour repair to the roof that requires the front seatbelts, front seats, a pillar trim, lights, OS handles and entire headliner to be removed so that the entire sunroof assembly is removed (just to get to one $3.50 part and replace it).
If anyone wants more info on this misery, let me know... It was worth the time to do buut what a pain!

Thanks for the help everyone! I forgot about the brake fluid and ps fluid and will do that also.
Double E- Thanks for the advice, I'll check out my sunroof also.
This is my daily driver and I want it to be reliable with maybe a little bit more power. I was looking into the Stillen supecharger that the Maxima guys use but I didn't see any I30's with it. We'll see, I want the car to be as trouble-free as possible while I modify my other cars so I don't know if forced induction is the way to go yet.

Seeing that it is in NV, I would say that is the I30krab that Simon mentioned(although I have never seen that krab's car before that). Damn!!! I thought I WAS going to be the first SC I30. Ohh well, at least I will be the first to do the manual LSD swap. After the swap, I plan on installing a SC as my next big project. It will probably happen in the up coming fall or winter so by then there should be 5 boosted I30s (you, me, I30krab, pawnstar, and Mike)!

I believe I30Krab has Automatic transmission that was highly modified. Bullet proof Automatic transmission by Level 10 or something.
