the type of gas one uses does not cause a knock sensor any problems, it is totally seperate of the fuel system. I have read people post about using lower octane gas and their knock sensor being bad several times in this forum, don't know where that came from

A knock sensor goes bad just like any other sesnor does. It is just a maintainence part that will have to be changed some time in a cars life.

There is sometimes a guys on ebay selling them for cheap. Or you can use a discount online Nissan parts dealer like Courtesy Nissan. Dave Burnett, an org member and parts manager at South Point Nissan in Texas, is who I have been using recently for my OEM parts. He gives us a discount, ships really fast, and is very helpful
