00-01 Transmission Info an FYI
Here is some useful (I hope) info about the Automatic Transaxle for an 01 I30.
(USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!)
This info comes in handy if you are buying a VB shift kit, solenoid assembly or rebuilt transmission for your 00-01 I30.
A/T model identification:
The 00-01 I30 models use an RE4F04B (the I30t uses a RE4F04W which contains a limited slip differential) transaxle which is not to be confused with the RE4F04A used on older models. To confirm this, check the spec plate located to the right of the VIN engraved on the firewall in the engine compartment. You can also tell the difference between the two transmissions by looking at the color of the solenoid harness terminal connector color located at the back left of the transmission Tan = RE4F04A and Black = RE4F04B).
Limited slip identification:
On the top left of the transmission bell-housing there should be an 85X05 or 85X06 cast onto the housing (85X05 = without limited slip and 85X06 = with limited slip). The corresponding Nissan part numbers are 3102085X05 (~$1900) and 3102085X06 (~$2470).
TransGo VB mod:
There are two kits available for the 00-01 I30 models. Both kits do not come with an oil pan gasket ($3 at Trans Exchange, $12 at EverythingInfiniti) but they do come with an installation video.
Here is one of the biggest distributors of TransGo products.
Trans Exchange - http://www.txchange.com/sk.htm
(1) SK RE4F04B – Standard shift kit which improves shifting for stock engine applications (~$45).
(2) RE4F04B-HD2 – Performance shift/reprogramming kit which decreases shift delay. This is what you should use if you plan on NOS or Boosting your engine (don’t have price info). NOTE: shifts are more aggressive and can be a real tire chirper.
The rep at Trans Exchange highly recommends upgrading the oil cooler with filter (~$50) as the Nissan/Infiniti stock coolers are difficult to clean. However, they do sell a trans cooler cleaner kit with filter (~$33).
Solenoid assembly:
If your 00-01 I30 Slips from first to second or second to third gear and your VIN is JNKCA31A1T015622 or earlier, there is a TSB (ITB00-028a) which is suppose to resolve the problem. Basically it’s a problem with the solenoid assembly (3194085X03) or transmission control module (310363Y160 for 00 models and 310365Y001 for 01 models). Unfortunately, EverythingNissan does not list these parts. I called Teckpak/Fitzall who manufacturers solenoid kits and was told this is only available through OE.

BTW if the last 6 numbers in the Vin indicate whether you are before or after the recall JNKCA31A1T015622.

Ok I know this is an old thread but! It helped me to go in the right direction.
I have a 00 Maxima Se and the problems that I have a described by this Kit:
My vin is JN1CA31DXYT528641 as it seems its after the number you have posted.
My question is, which exacly kit I need (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories)
And how easy is it to DIY?

Kewl, other than the known issue with 00-03 maxima trannys experiencing low line pressure, they are pretty solid. My friend told me that Nissan / infinity posted a bulletin regarding the pressure problem and it can be fixed by increasing the line pressure by flashing PCM
