Infiniti/Nissan Conspiricy!!!

I am now completely convinced that Infiniti/Nissan have a conspiracy going on when it comes to making money off people for service.

It all stems from the broken sunroof that I have.

Background of story: Sunroof broke, I checked the Org., got answers, called local dealer, asked for part, the guy I spoke with last night was HONEST and said they have that part, it includes everything but motor and electrical and is $65, and they have one in stock for me to pick up. I said I will call back tomorrow morning to pick up. OK...

I won't bore you with the whole story, but basically...

When I called both the Nissan and the Infiniti dealerships and asked for the Sunroof Rebuild Kit, they both claimed that it does not exist. I then told them everything works on my sunroof, but the roof will not close and I am trying to fix it. They then said I need to purchase two hinges at $88.95 each and that must be what I was talking about.

I then told the guy, I have a part number and gave him that number. His first question was; "where did you get that number?" I just told him I had the number and that this number was for the Sunroof Rebuild Kit. He said "Oh the Sunroof Rebuild kit, oh yeah, we have that."

I then asked him what it consisted of (knowing already what it consisted of because of help here on the Org.) He said it just has two hinges in it for the sunroof and it is $89.00. I told him that the part number I gave him should be the Sunroof Rebuild Kit and it should contain everything except the motor and electrical parts for the sunroof. He said "hold on" and put me on hold. He then got back on the phone and said, "oh yeah you are correct about that, it contains everything except the motor and electrical parts for the sunroof and it is $85.00, but that they don't have any in stock." I told him that I called last night right before the parts department closed and was told they do have one in stock and that it is $65 and I can pick it up today. He then put me on hold again and then got back on the phone and said, "yes, I see we do have one in stock and if you were quoted $65 then we can do that for you."

WTF!!!!!!!

Now, I found out that the dealer charges between $800 to $1500 to FIX this problem with the sunroof!!!!

What are your thoughts about this????? Pretty F***ed up huh?

CONSPIRICY!!!

Wow, Ive gotten that kind of **** from Nissan before, but my Infiniti dealer has always been helpful.

Dealer labor rates are outrageous. I dont think there are many things i would consider taking to the dealer out of warrantee. You can save so much just by doing it yourself.

i got a better nissan dealership story for u

my transmission was stuck in 2nd gear. So anyways I brought it to Jerry Rome Nissan who is on the Org and they could not even get it on a lift because it was to low. Then they tried to say transmission failure was caused by my stereo, which was complete bull****. I told them to drive it up on 2x4's so they could lift it, but they said they dont know how to do that, then i told them to take the rivets off the side skirts and they said they cant do that neither. Well anyway after that BS I told them to **** off and I took my car to Harte Nissan in CT. Last night wen i called them with no notice they took the car right in this morning (it took JR nissan 8 days to get it in) and Harte called me about 9 am. (After they put my car on the lift using 2x4's wich Jerry Rome nissan could not figure out how to do.) Harte told me that the tranny was shot and they would cover it FULLY UNDER WARRANTY. So to say the least that made my day of mowing 12 lawns better heh. Moral of the story Jerry Rome Nissan has dispicable Customer Service and Harte Nissan saved me 5 grand. I know this is the Wrong place to post my ranting about the dealership but some of you guys were wondering how I made out. I should have the car back by Tuesday because the tranny is coming in Monday.

This is why I don't go to local dealers for parts anymore when I intend to do installation/fixing myself. As long as you have a part number, you have so many choices to get OEM parts....

Glad you didn't get ripped off

MUCH Thanks to HASEI for pointing me in the right direction on the ORG and much thanks to deezo who originally posted the info and how to on this issue. Without this part number and part name, I would be bending over the desk at the dealership right now taking it UP THE TAILPIPE!!!!!!!

Thanks Hasei. Yeah, I could not believe they were trying to say this part or kit didn't exist! I called them on their lie this time and then they finally gave in and played dumb!

UPDATE:

I got my car back in 4.5 hours from an upolstry/sunroof shop in Chantilly, VA after work today and they did a freekin' great job!!! My sunroof works great and they even allowed me to pick up the (non existant) part from Nissan and bring it in where they did the labor for me! They only charged me $260 labor. I know some of you guys would say that I should have saved that $260 and done it myself, but while I thought about it, I just dont have the time right now and did not want to wait to get this fixed.

FYI: The sunroof rebuild kit came with step by step instructions and black and white pictures on how to install this!!!!! NO ONDER THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS!!!! LOL Anyway, I have the paperwork that came with the kit and am planning on scanning it in so I can get it to anyone on here that would like it.

The dealer is the great satan...

When I reupholstered my car with new leather I had to remove the map pocket panels on the rear of the front seats. They are held in place with plastic clips and so I wanted to replace them inorder to ensure a tight fit. So, I go down to my local dealer and tell them what part I need, and the stupid moron tells me the only way to get the new clips is if I buy a whole new back panel which costs $480!!!! WTF... I knew that it was bullsh!t and left. I ordered the 8 $.30 clips and had to pay $4 shipping from everything nissan but at least it wasnt $480!!!

BTW, what was the problem with your sunroof? My actual sunroof is fine, but the clips that keep the interior shade in the metal tracks are broken, so the shade rattles if I have it open. The **** is so annoying that I dont even use my sunroof most of the time. Does the repair kit include new clips for the sun shade??

i30ds: The kit includes the following:

Kit Sub Assy R/Guide RH
Kit Sub Assy R/Guide LH
Sub Assy D/Guide RH
Sub Assy D/Guide LH
Shoe
Guide Link
Silencer Shade
Silencer Shade Front
Dumper Trvs

I am sure that didn't help, but that is what is on the sheet that came with the kit. There is a diagram above this list that I will scan in and can send to you once I get it scanned in.

To answer your question simply, I do not think this kit will help you, unfortunately.

I would post your problem on here and in the Max section, and see if someone else can help you.

My problem was that the motor worked and all, but the sunroof would not close. It happened all of a suddent too, it's not like one of those things where you can tell that soon you will have to replace a part, It worked one day and not the other. lol

Holy Crap!! When I fixed the heated seat in my wife's '02 Maxima I tried to get new clips that hold on the map pocket panel and I was told the same thing. I tried two Nissan dealers and an Infiniti dealer. I ended up having to buy clips from NAPA that were different and I had glue them to the back of the map pocket panel for them to work. How can I get in touch with Everything Nissan to get some of those. Thanks.

Just call them at 1-888-216-5328. They are Infiniti of Scottsdale. Ask for parts, then ask for Justin. They sell all Nissan parts at wholesale (50% off dealer list). Make sure that you specify that you are an internet customer so you get that discount.

I don't get it. I understand this kind of behavior from salespeople because they work on commission, but why the heck do mechanics and parts people pull this kind of BS? Techs and mechanics don't get bonuses for raking in revenue, do they? None of the ones I talked to ever admitted such.

A friend of mine works at the parts counter at a dealer. He said that the dealer has a price range at which they can sell you the parts. There is a lowest price they can sell it for, and there is a highest price they can sell it for. Most of the time, they will quote you the highest price unless you tell them another dealer quoted a lower price.

Same thing happened to me when I wanted genuine Nissan platinum spark plugs. One dealer quoted around $26 per plug, then I went across town to another dealer and got the plugs for around $16-$18 per plug. From now on when I go to the dealer for parts, I always say that another dealer quoted me a lower price just to see what the parts counter guy says. Usually it works and I get a lower price than what was originally quoted.

I have had thats same problem with my Infiniti dealer. I have damage to the front passenger door panel (on the speaker grill there is a hole about the size of a bullet.) Well I wanted to find out the price to for the lower section of the door panel and make a long story short, these *** clowns informed me the price was going to be $1800 for the kit and I could not order just the lower door panel. What a rip.
