For those of you who love HID headlights, I'd love to know what are some of the best quality kits available these days. I'd love to see you guys post some pics of your HID's in action. I'm in the market for a good kit myself and would love to see what others are doing. At the same time maybe we can get good ol' competition goin' with whose headlights look the sweetest.

The best "HID kit" is to get the OEM HID housings from an I30t or I35.

hey META, how did you run the power wire from the battery to your amp? is there a pre-existing hole in the firewall? or does one have to be drilled?

There's a nice little grommet in the firewall near the top on the driver's side. You should be able to see it with the hood open.

and this goes all the way inside the car right? i need to move the siren from my aftermarket alarm, it is sitting right in front of the grommet you mentioned. thanks Meta.

It does go inside the car. Once you have the grommet popped out you should actually be able to see light through it if you look up from under and behind the dash.

i think the best HID kit the angle eyes kit.. but im havin a hard time gettin my hands on them.. i suggest u fit those...

www.hid-online.com has some really nice, all Philips kits. I've had them installed for over a year and a half now without any problems. The output and beam pattern are great. I just recently adjusted my lamps, (they were both pointed too low) all I can say is WOW! I thought I moved them too high because of the amount of light I am putting out, but I have not been flashed once since the adjustment... Well, by fellow motorists in protest

Those look tight! I like how yours are just bright white. I'm thinking I like the HID's that are more white than blue or purple. I've seen a couple guys on cardomain have HID's for fogs too.

On a different note, your picture reminds of how much I hate having to have a front license plate. It looks WAY better without one.

I checked out their site, but when I select Infiniti its only showing me kits for 96-98. Am I missing something?

Not sure why 2k+ wouldn't show up. Just make sure to order a 9006 kit as that is the type of bulb we use.

I guess I'm just a rebel Unfortunately the car came from the dealer with the front plate so I have two little holes instead. I'm pretty sure we are supposed to have front plates here in cali too, but I dont like them... Now that I think about it, I may put my extra plate in the trunk just in case someone has a problem with it.

What can he do? He doesn't have HID headlights, although the glare is huge, but still not worse than those Civics/Accords with HID kits.

Other than just for looks, do the angel eye headlights perform any better than standard I30 headlights? Any other major differences between them?

I would think light ouput would be wrose than the OEM ones. Since most aftermarket headlights' quality is not up to par.

So just because others are doing something wrong it makes it OK for everyone else to do so too?

He, as well as any other halogen headlight owner has options:

He can aim his headlights to the ground (still no good)
He can retrofit OEM HID projectors (best)
He can remove the HIDs and stick with his halogens (better than blinding people)
He can attempt to use a headlight with a strong cutoff, something with an E-Code or like pattern like Cefiro headlights.

There is the ubiqutous masking tape he can put on the headlights to create a ghetto cutoff

We also have no idea what the glare is like in a real world situation. All we have to judge by is one picture which may very well have been taken on the ground in the middle of the beam. It is very difficult to take an accurate picture of a strong light source.

I dont have OEM HID reflectors but my cut off is still pretty clean. While it isn't a perfect projector cutoff, neither is the OEM HID. The amount of glare has most to do with the quality and accuracy of the OEM reflector (which is pretty good) and the quality/ accuracy of the HID kit you buy.

.... you can use hid shields... to get a nice cut off line..

im gonna be doing this to the cefiro housing im getting in the 98.. mabey doing away with the projector cause some lady backed up into it and cracked the hohusing... projectors are still good mabey ill bring it back but not until major impovement can be made

Hey, i own a 2000 i30 i just bought a set for my car. I got 12000 K's. I know that 12000 is great because i used to have 12000k's on my older 99 i30 and i loved them. I used to compare my 12000k's with stock BMW 740il's & Benz S500 ( my friends cars) and guess what? My lights did a lot better then the stock. Also, i bough my set from a guy that provides you with a warrenty for 3 years on the ballest & bulbs which is rear. If your interested e-mail me.

What do you mean did better? As in more color? Or light output? Because in the case of color, you win flat out since OEM HIDs are usually 4300k. In terms of light output you lose flat out.

They are Mecca Tune. I didn't get them yet i should be getting them next week. I will take pictures as soon as i plug them in. Color is a preference, the output is what was the difference. I have been told by some people that you should get lower Kelvin number for more output but what's weired is that with my 12000's i was able to see more then with stock BMW or Benz. As a test i left one of my friends drive my car with my 12000 while he had stock HID's on his car.

That maybe due to the fact that their cars have the correct cutoff for HIDs. While yours are glaring like crazy and spraying the entire area in front of you with light.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for 'em? I found their website selling them for $500 bucks. Thats quite a bit more than McCulloch or Philips.

I own a 2k i30t and one of the HID lamps went out. I've already got the OEM replacement part, I just need some instruction on installing it. Or, is this something I should take to the dealership to get installed?

Hey guy's, i installed my lights didn't really have a chance to take a good pictures with a good camera. But i did take a picture with my Treo 650. Quality is ok, but i don't know how to upload the picture to this form, someone tell me... Btw, in the picture i have my lights (12000) and my friend's 2004 IS 300 stock HID's. Oh... and the lights are great on the road.
