mounting 17" G35 wheels on an I30 - any issues?

just wondering...I noticed a set of Infiniti G35 sedan wheels up for sale

I was thinking of possibly using them as winter wheels if I could get a good enough deal on them.

current tires on these rims are 215/55/17.
Tires on my '00 I30 T are 225/50/17.
The winters I've got now are 235/45/17. I know these will fit OK on my I30T 17" rims, but, was just curious if there would be any winter tire fitment issues on these G35 wheels AND whether these wheels would just bolt right onto my '00 I30T without any modifications or hub rings, etc.?

Only issue I can think of is that the G35 are a little wider in the back. I'm also interested in these rims.. If we can find two identical sets we can split them to 4 of the same.. you can take eitther the 17x7.5 or 17x8 I dont car as long as they all match.

I wasn't aware the G35 sedan had different size rims front & rear. I thought that was only the case with some G35 coupes. The seller did not indicate different size rims AND also indicated all tires on the rims were all 215/55/17.
Thus it wouldn't seem logical to have different size rims running those tires and the seller indicated they were factory tires.

Rims on my I30 T are only 7" wide, so I can't see these rims being 7.5" or 8" and running tires that are 1 size less wide than my factory tires. I was concerned they might only be 6.5" wide. Does anybody know for certain?

Seller is Cdn. That was why I was interested. Cost to me to ship rims across the border in from the US is prohibitive. By the time I pay duty, and taxes in addition to shipping, it doesn't make any sense. I had a quote, many years ago to ship 4 wheels & tires from New York to Calgary and back then I was quoted around $2500 over the cost of the wheels & tires.

But what about my other question....will these G35 sedan rims just bolt right onto an I30T with no problems? Does anybody know for certain?

Bolt pattern, hub bore, etc. is the same, so it should bolt on no problem. Unless the offset is something ridiculous (something I highly doubt) you shouldn't have any problem running those wheels.

Offset is a good point because of the FWD/RWD difference. Would anyone happen to know of a link that would list the offsets of various Infiniti wheels
AND how much of a difference in offset from my factory wheels is acceptable?

Just find a G35 forum and search for offset. Regardless of what you find I'm sure the wheels will fit with no problem. It's all gonna come down to appearance and you gauging how they'd look b4 your buy them and knowing the offset will help there. On another note you can run different width wheels with the same size tires. An example is myself. I have 8.5 inchers in the front and 10 inchers in the back. I'm running 255 tires on both.

checked with my local Infiniti parts dept. and they advise the offset on the G35 wheels should be +40. They weren't able to advise what the offset was on my 17" factory I30 T wheels. Would anyone know, for certain, the offset
('00 - '01 factory 17", thick, 5 spoke, Touring wheels)?

they also suggested that the G35 has wheels designed for their bigger braking system, so G35 wheels should not present a rubbing contact problem on an I30.

40 mm? They should fit no problem. I think offset on the stock wheels is either 40mm or 45mm. It's in the FAQ in this forum.

Thanks, guys. Actually, as you were posting, I was just reading through the FAQ section.

According to the FAQ section the following wheels ALL have a +45 offset:

17 x 7 I30 T wheels
17 x 7 I35 sport wheels
17 x 7 G35 and G35 sport wheels. I don't know if the above wheels are the "sport" , but, I believe I saw pics of them on G35 Aero's, so I guess that's sporty?

The 17 x 7 I35 wheel is +40.

The 18 x 8 G35 coupe rim is +30.

Now, I know the seller of these wheels was telling a G35 coupe owner that these wheels should fit on with no problem, but, it would appear, if the FAQ is correct, that there is a 15 mm offset difference.

And, my Infiniti dealer indicated that he showed the G35 sedan wheel as being a +40 offset and the FAQ says G35 sedan wheels are +45.

Now I'm really

Doesn't matter. 17x7 or even 17x7.5 with a 40 or 45mm offset should work just fine.

OK, (I hope). Now I'll have to see what I can get the wheels for. Reason I'm trying to be careful is because the seller is about 1000 miles away from me.

hey thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the bidding went nuts in the last day and they sold for $478.51 Cdn. Badly marked up rims and Turanza all seasons on them with 20 - 30% wear left (the pic above was of the same style wheels, but, was not of the actual wheels I was trying to buy). With shipping and mounting and balancing it would have cost me roughly $725 for the set and then I'd have thrown the tires out and put my own winters on. From my own experience of buying numerous used sets of tires and occasionally wheels, there are much, much better deals than that to be had.
So instead, I took my cash up to Edmonton and bought a black/black/black
'01 BMW Z3 3.0 convertible instead.
Now I have 2 cars that need 17" winters or winter wheels & tires. The harder I dig, the deeper I get.
