To those who have swapped out their OEM D2R bulbs...

How hard was it to take out the headlight and change the bulb? Are the bolts holding in the headlight all easily accessible from the opened hood? Or are there bolts underneath too? I am going to do 6,000K D2R + 6,000K fog conversion soon and could use pointers. Thanks!

I'm not sure if the I35 setup are the same as the I30 but i had non xeone headlights and i put a xeone setup in the headlamps and in the fogs.
I didn't have to take off the headlamps at all.

But if you want to take them off here's "How to"

I plan to take them off in spring to upgrade to angle eyes.

Hope this helps.

I have a metal cap protecting the xenon bulb in my headlight. The cap is screwed in with very little space behind it, did yours too? Because of the screwed in cap, I thought I have to remove the headlights.

No problem, you can chime in when I install my HID fog kit. And you explain where the undernath bolt you talked about on your site? Is it accessilbe once I have access to the fog light? And then I just reach up?

I wouldn't think you would have to remove the headlamps to replace a bulb, but I could be wrong. That just seems like a lot of unnecessary work, especially for the dealer who is prolly replacing most of them.

I know clearence behind my headlamps is tight, but it definitely is possible to change out bulbs with the lamps still in.

And yes, there is one more bolt underneath the headlamp. You have to access it from under the car with a flashlight. It's kind of a PITA to get to.

your passenger side lamp will be no problem for getting to the bulb. on the drivers side you will need to remove your battery to get the rear of the lamp. you don't want to take the chance of remove the bulb without having enough space. as for your fogs, i did a little video of my install, if you want a copy pm me with a name and address and i will send a copy of the dvd. it doesn't have the actual install on there, what i did was just take the insatll apart to show how i did things.

So you mean simply reach behind the headlight with a screwdriver, remove the 4 screws, remove the bulb cap, then install new bulb? I think I'll be OK on the fog lights, thanks for the offer though!
