How rare are various I35 packages / options?

My I35 is maxed out minus the navigation system...

I have the sport package with chrome wheels, the sun 'n shade package, and the cold weather package.

I've owned the car 6 months or so now, and since I've been paying attention to I35s, I've only seen one other car with chrome wheels. It was white like mine, also. That car had gold emblems and mine has silver.

Anyway, if I had to guess, I've seen about 15 - 20 unique I35s in the past 6 months and only two with chrome wheels (mine and the other white car).

I'm wondering if anyone has any stats on how many other vehicles were produced with "x" number of options.

I think it would be cool to be able to say that only a thousand I35s were produced with chrome wheels or whatever =)

No stats off the top of my head. But I can tell you that sport package I35s were pretty rare, and that chrome wheel optioned sport package models were even more exclusive.

Also consider that the sport package wasn't even offered in '04.

I've had mine new since '02, and the number of sport package equipped models I've seen is relatively few. I think I've seen maybe 4 of those with chrome wheels.

I wonder if it would be say to say, or guess rather, that less than one hundred I35s were produced that were pearl white with sport package + chrome wheels.

No idea, but I e-mailed Infiniti Consumer relations just for the hell of it. Maybe we'll get some numbers.

How can you tell if an I35 is sport package? Do you just look at the wheels and spoiler?

Spoiler wasn't part of it. 8-spoke wheels, stiffer suspension (supposedly), sport floormats, side skirts, leather shift **** and steering wheel (I think), and VDC.

Infinitis with the sport package had the Maxima SE struts which have stiffer shock valving. So that's where your stiffer suspension comes into play.

Yeah, that I knew. I was referring to the fact that I could never tell a difference between the sport and the regular suspension.

Definitely Kings, There are a lot of one of a kind cars in this forum.

I can guarantee you that there is not another car like mine anywhere in the world. The cool thing is, there are a lot of us who can say that.

You sure about this? I thought it was the same shocks, just different springs with different rates, like Maxima vs Maxima SE's.

Shocks actually have little to do with how stiff your suspension is. Shocks control how bouncy your suspension is after the spring has absorbed the force. Springs determine how stiff a suspension feels.

Haven't driven a I30T/I35S, but have driven a Max and a Max SE. Very little difference IMO.

Kings - Nice album by the way

I would like to also consider my I35 unique too. Well at least it's unique to the upper half of the U.S. lol

thanks Lee, actually our 2 cars are the only one's like them in the world, the parts we have don't come on any one model. they were split up around the world. our cars are the only 2 "i've" seen with everthing on the one car.

you know i've driven other I30's/I35's and they don't ride as stiff as mine. i've riden in 1 I35 sport and it rode like my car does. the only thing is that my car is a regular I35.

leeI35 & Kings are both very sweet and unique I35's. It is nice driving a car that you dont see everywhere on the road. Thats one of the main things that attracted me to my I30. Funny thing about mine is that when I looked up the VIN number, it was listed as an I30t, but I dont believe it has any of the extras that the touring editions have.

Yes, we do have the same suspension as the Maxima/SE... And the only difference between the two is the shock valving and wheels. Springs are exactly the same.

Not to rain on your parade, but shocks do have a lot to do with the comfort of the ride. Yes, they control compression and rebound, but the stiffer your shocks the more resistence to movement there is. This has a large effect on the ride of your car. Ever had adjustable shocks? Install some Illuminas, play around with the settings, and then come tell me that shocks dont effect ride.

I agree that there is not a HUGE difference between luxury and SE (sport) ride and handeling, but the sport struts do offer more control over suspension movement making for a more controled ride (less bounce), less roll in the turns, and yes, a slightly stiffer ride.

So really, the only way to tell when it is driving down the road is the wheels and the side skirts.

After some research you're correct, but I am also. SE's have different rear struts and also different rear springs. Check everythingnissan for part #'s if you wish. I knew I had read about the springs here on the org somewhere.

I'll continue to stand by my statement springs effect ride feel more than struts/shocks though. Springs take the impact, and they also get your wheels back onto the road after the impact. Shocks/struts exist to stop the bouncing that occurs as the spring would continue to release it's energy unless dampening occurs via a shock/strut.

Why do you see people on here selling S-techs and moving to H-techs or a different spring? They're not selling their Illuminas.

Thank you, I know that the springs will have a larger effect on the ride than the struts. After all, I am riding on Eibachs. I only had a problem with your statement of the struts having little to do with the ride, when in reality having the correct dapening for your spring rate is essential to a nicely handeling and comfortably riding vehicle

As far as the springs being different between Lux and SE, I have never heard of this unless they are just an update for the bottoming out problem some have had. I know nissan likes to have different part #'s for identical parts.

If you really want to know, contact Dave B. He is the org's Nissan parts god.

1996 I35? Are you talking about a 3.5 swap?

Possible to toss up a pic of the sport floormats? I need to buy a new set of OEM and wonder what the sports look like. They are the same price as the regular ($129) but the dealer didn't know what the difference was.

Thanks!

No pic, but the embroidery says "sport" (in cursive, I think) along with the Infiniti logo.
