passenger’s seat heater is not working, need your help

My passenger’s seat heater is not working. The light on the switch works though. I’ve checked the fuse and it’s good. I know that some liquid was spilled by a previous owner on to the switches. Any tips on where to look for possible cause? And if you say switches, what's the best way to take them out? Thanks.

I would look more towards the heating element myself. I know I had one go out on my old SAAB, but that was after about 90k/10 years.

The switches would be easier to check though... Just take a flatblade or a knife works too. wrap it in a cloth so not to scratch the surrounding material, and pry the switches up from the edge.

So if the light shows up, the switch still can be malfunctioning ?

I would really doubt that, but I've been wrong before. An easy way to check would be to switch the switches (sounds funny, I know). Just unplug the wires to the passenger switch and use the drivers switch. If passenger warmer works, it was the switch.

Like I said, I really doubt this is the problem. Look at replacing the heating element.

So today I took out both of the switches and inspected the wires and the connector, looked fine. Then I disconnected both switches and tried to swap them, since driver’s side heater was working. Turned out you CAN’T swap switches because slots for connectors are different. So I took the switch apart, and discovered that all the metal parts inside are coated with all sort of sticky stuff. I cleaned everything out, reassembled the switch and what do you know, my A$$ began to worm up. I'm so proud of myself

Glad everything is working again!

Was this sticky stuff grease or something spilled down there? I know I had to take apart the window switches on my last car cuz a friend spilled coke all over the console.

I bet you're happy you didnt have to replace the heater. They are considerably more difficult to replace.

:edit: and you may want to have those worms on you a$$ checked out

I'm think it was coffee. because i have stains elsewhere. I sure am happy it's not the heater, but if it was, i doubt i would replace it. Too much $$, for a little laxuary that worms my passenger’s a$$.
