Cefiro headlights - why perform like sh**?

I have installed Cefiro headlights on my 97 i30, they look great but in terms of performance they are terrible. The light beam is weak and all over the place. What should I do to resolve this, because I can barely see anything especially in rain at night.

Are they OEM or aftermarket? The aftermarket ones have the worst beam pattern.

Are you sure you wire them up correctly? Does the Highbeam indicator light up a little on the dash? If so, then you are wiring them wrong. Check the wirings too!

There are few manufactures for the Aftermarket Cefiro Headlights. Out of 'em, the TYC performs the best (closest to OEM), the eagle eye, or the depo manufactured aftermarket headlights have crappier beam patterns.

I do not think the shop that installed them aimed them after but considering how week and scattered the beam is, aiming will not help them much.

The high beam lights up when I turn on the high beam, high beam is working as it suppose to but I can have the wiring double checked.
I bought them from a member here on the org his email is liuspeedtuning@hotmail.com
I have emailed him if he can tell me what brand were they.

I got mine off the last gd, and the output compared to my plastic foggy '96 stockers is amazing. Took a lil aiming when i got them, but I love em, and the light output is no comparision.

Yeah, that means that they aren't wired properly. I had the same thing, finished wiring it all up, prepared to drive home, and the dayum high beam light was shallow visible. Went back in and re-did everything, hopped back in the car, and everything has been smooth since then.

You can email me if you want the OEM Cefiro Headlights? Otherwise, you will find the Depo, Eagle eyes, or TYC Cefiro headlights out there on the internet. The TYC's are closest quality to the OEM, but still not OEM.

As far as the Tailights/License plates, if you find the aftermarket one's (possibly made by Depo)... just make sure they match up to the outter tail lights. A lot of time, the aftermarket quality is so bad that, even they made whole set of the tailights, the color do not match or the lines do not line up. I'd suggest you to get the OEM's too!

Finally, the rear bumpers, yes, I do import them, but since they are quite large, the S/H will be quite expensive. Feel free to email me and we can work something out.

THanks
SY

You are NOT screwed by having a pair of aftermarket headlights, they just have crappier beam pattern (may still possibly be a bit better than the stock OEM 9004).

And I can't believe they didn't include the H-4 bulbs and H-4 harness?! Yes, you must put in H-4 bulbs into this thing. By having 9004 in there just don't make any sense. If you get HID.. you may possibly lose high-beam...

Good luck

You have an Infiniti I30..So your installation is very straight forward. There is no cutting involved. You just need to un-install your OEM headlights and splice the wires from your stock 9004 Harness to H-4 harness then re-install your One piece headlights.

Read up on the top thread, on possible way to detect (if you had wired the harness wrong). Good luck!

I have a pair of the eagle eyes that I will be installing tomorrow. That means that the 6k HID that I bought will not be as bright as if I had the OEM Cefiros...Is this correct?

It will be brighter when you use 6K HID.. however, the beam pattern may be scattered all over... but not too bad... just try to aim 'em a bit lower when you install HID.

Good luck!

I got my Cefiro lights from SY a year or two ago and lived with the crappy beam pattern. The do look great over the prismatic style foggy glass on the OEM 96-97 and the clear housings and side markers really set the front end off nicely.

He said they were OEM, they looked like OEM but the beam pattern was still awful. (They are, in fact, OEM to Cefiros)

I'm such an idiot though. When I wrote to SY after in Installed them, he told me I just had to aim them. I just lived with the performance for like a year or so and finally sought to see what could be done.

And after some patience (they adjust slowly) I'm happy to report once again that they're great & SY is THE MAN!

I should have done what he said right away...

I now follow SY on all things/info provided.

Has anyone else had a problem adjusting the left/right beam on the TYC cefiros? I turn the inner (towards radiator) screw, but the beam doesn't appear to move. Double E, is this what you mean by "they adjust slowly"?

That's exactly what I mean.

I ended up taking a power screwdriver with swivel extension to it because it was taking forever to move. Finally it came around for me.

i have a couple of questions maybe you guys can help me out..

i have cefiro's on my car, but when you guys say aiming, do you mean actually taking the headlight and tilting it toward the ground?, or the inner shield and bulb?....

also i want hid's but ive seen alot of people with them and they tend to look foggy and a scattered pattern.. i want the type of look that is on the 04-06 maxima's.. like a sort of beam..i'll post pics of what i don't want and what i want to accomplish... thanks guys.

Aiming as in internally adjusting the inner shield to aim the beam... no different than aiming the standard US market headlights.

and how do you aim the inner shield? is it by bending it? or is it adjustable.
