Sunroof Problem: Tilt up and down works, but sunroof won't slide back
I also posted this in the 5th gen thread.
My sunroof tilts up and down, but doesn't slide back. I can't find a sunroof fuse. It stopped working when my brother installed a remote start in my car, but I'm not sure if it's related. |
I;m not sure if it's related either, but I had this same problem in my 96 I30. I posted the issue and fix on my cardomain page. Check it out and let me know if you have any further questions. I think it is on page 3 or 4 of my cardomain page. Hope this helps. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/796084

All I had to do was look in the manual and follow the sunroof reset/relearn procedure. I had to hold the "tilt down" button for a few seconds and then the slide started to work again!
|
Wow, I wish all of my car problems could be that simple! LOL
|
No Kidding! My sunroof cable broke & 6 hours later, after the seats came out, headliner was pulled and the entire assembly was repaired, I was back in business.
What a PAIN!!! It's all good though. If that (and a starter) is all I've done to it in nearly 10 years, sign me up! |
Colussus,
The sunroof reset is easy as pie and it usually happens after you disconnect the battery cable... Make sure the switch is slid to the closed position hold the tilt up button for 5 seconds until sunroof is completely tilted up. Hold the sunroof tilt down position button closed until the sunroof is completely closed and HOLD for another 5 seconds. Try sliding the sunroof completely back SLOWLY (we have that lever button that slides back in "phases" so slide it back one phase at a time. Hope this helps..alot of I35 owners report the same problem. Should help fix the issue. |
Also while the track is exposed, spray some "grease" in the track.

Thanks for the input on resetting the sunroof - I will let you know if this works as I have the same problem with a 2003 SE MT, after battery was replace.
|
Thanks for the tip guys! My sunroof is now working properly.
|
Wish I had a sunroof. If one had all the parts, how hard would it be to install One?
