Car reaches operating temp very fast
I bought an 00 I30 yesterday (I love it). My 96 Maxima takes quite a while to reach operating temperature (7 minutes or so) if I just let it idle. The infiniti, however, takes under 4 minutes to reach operating temp after sitting overnight (before I even drive it). The car doesn't overheat, coolant appears fresh and at correct level, but I'm just wondering if this is normal. Do your I30's warm up this quickly? Thanks!

Congrats on the purchase man. Well in response, my 2000 i30 heats up very quickly as well. In less than five minutes in the dead of winter, my car was warming up to normal operating temp at the same time as yours is. I don't think theres anything to worry about. Enjoy the car and post some pics so we can see what it looks like.

Isn't that good? The car reaching operating temp quickly?
Back when I was living in Minnesota, I remember my 90 maxima takes forever to reach operating temp in winter. Remember cold engine = no heat. Often I got to my destination before it warmed up! Maybe because it was a CA car. I eventually put a cardboard behind the grille, and that seemed to help a bit.
Now that I'm living in hot & humid climate, it don't matter anymore! But my I-30's engine seem to be generate a lot of heat after only a short time idling. It doesn't overheat, temp gauge reads normal, but it's much hotter than my Hyundai Atoz, though that thing does have a 1 liter engine with lots of room in the engine bay for air to move around!
