Stoopid O2 sensor code.

Stoopid O2 sensor code.
My SES light came on and I got the code read at a local autozone shop. Reviewed the code and it was the first one on the list on the TSBs posted under the 5th gen maxima forum. I contacted the local stealership and since my car is over 100 kms, it is no longer covered and it could cost about $400 :
Looking at the various diagrams, I think I can replace the O2 sensor myself but I don't think I can reprogram the ECM/ECU as per the directions.
To any DIYers, if you have replaced the sensor(s), how did you reprogram the ECM. Also, for those that have had their's replaced under warranty at the dealership, what was the original warranty coverage on these things? I have heard if the dealership covers this under emissions, than I should be covered but I think the service rep I spoke to was not telling me the whole story and was trying to screw me over.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this helps, but I recently pulled a 1147 code for O2 sensors. As I found in a post on here, it seems attributable to a tank of bad gas. I reset the code 3 times, and it came back within an hour. After a fill up at my regulat gas station, the code is gone and hase been for 2 weeks. Just a thought...

Hey Tek,
My code is different (P0138). I had the SES light reset and the interesting about this occurrence is that it appears to only occur when I go on highway drives, particularly when it is warm outside (above 25 degrees celsius or 77 degrees fahrenheit). Not too sure if I have a small leak around that O2 sensor but I guess I will check some sites to get some pricing.
