Slip/abs/TCS off?
Slip/abs/TCS off?
I have a 2002 I35 and on my way back from work today, it felt like there was a jerk or a feeling that the transmission slipped or something. The SLIP/ABS/TCS off lamps all illuminated on my dash at the same time. What in the world does all of that mean? Please tell me that this will be a cheap/easy fix. I plan on taking it to the dealership either Saturday or Monday but I would appreciate some info in the meantime.

haha, I've seen all three of those lit up a few times during some crazy brakestands, but they all go out upon restarting it. If you're not out of warranty bring it to the dealer and you'll get to drive a G35 service loaner (I've had those lights all come on in them to) If it's out of warranty reset the ecu and see if it comes back, if it does get the code checked, it's more than likely a problem with a wheel sensor or vss (vehicle speed sensor)
Thanks for the replies. I want to take it up to the dealer Monday, but I wanted to make sure that it would be safe to drive it first. What's strange is that I was just driving along at about 50mph when the car jerked a little and all those lamps illuminated. I just hope it's something simple. Unfotunately, the car is no longer under warranty so no G35 loaner car. I would rather drive the M35 anyway lol!

yeah it's good to drive, the jerking was just the traction control kicking on and killing the ignition for no reason and at a high speed, it realised that it was f%^#d up and went into a fail-safe mode, you have no abs or tcs now but it's cool.
Do not take it to Sears. Even for free they're likely to break what ain't broke. (ask me how I know)
Just get it diagnosed at the dealer if reseting the ECU doesn't do the trick. Determine the best way to repair it from there & be sure to tell us what it was!

cool, but I'd get into the habit that I am, I shut the tcs off EVERY time I start the car, and heres why. I was driving down a slightly wet road, almost just moist like it just started misting rain, and this guy tried to pass me last second before a lane merger, well I saw him and FLOORED it, the car down shifted and the tires tried to break loose at around 40mph, they would have only spun/grabbed/spun the littlest bit going that fast, but instead the tcs kicked in.... well the car started bucking so violently, I mean BAD, it felt like it was going to blow the transmission or the rear shocks! it all happened so quick and my first reaction was to look down at the tack, the needle was bouncing so fast and violently back and forth from 3k-6k, I thought the tach needle was going to break off! I can only imagine what the other driver must have thought of the car, the whole thing was slamming back and forth so bad he probably heard it! I did pull on him and he couldn't pass me, but ever since then I shut off the tcs every time I get in that car
Last week my TCS Off, Slip, and ABS lights were on for 2 days straight and nothing seemed abnormal. I scheduled to have it dropped off at the dealership. The day I was supposed to bring it in, the lights never came on and they haven't been on since. So I would say give it a few days before you spend money to have it looked at, they might go off.
