It will likely be several thousand dollars to have someone convert it to a 6-speed assuming you can find all the parts and someone to do it.

No one has done it yet... but someone should. Anyways, all the parts from the maxima will fit. The only area in question would be the shifter trim and the gauge cluster...

It has been done on a Maxima, but not an I35. If you're honestly thinking about this, I would first donate to this site so you could perform REAL searches, because you'll need it if you're going to dive into this endeavor.

This is where the difference would be

Wow, that would be awesome.

I think the 5.5gen Maxima cluster will fit any i30/35, but there will be a problem with the harness and that will need some crazy rewiring...
Just my $0,02!

You can probably keep the gauges if you don't want to go with the maxima gauges. I was going to make the swap at maximumtuning for 2000. It depends if I want to keep the car or not. I luv my I35 and 6spd or 5spd would make it sweeter. It's just that there are so many new cars out that come equipped with 6spd. I am trying so hard to resist temptation to get a new car. My car is almost paid for, and when it is, I will decide if I should swap the tranny or get a new car.

Right. You could keep the I35 gauge cluster, which would still work, but you would have to learn to live with the smaller tach.

When you think about it, its not really all that different from the 4th gen and 00-01 swap... except the shifter uses cables instead of rods...

I didn't know that you could keep the A/T cluster...
BTW i saw a Audi A6 M/T using the shift indicators(without the letters)... for a parking sensor and looked really great, but that's another story

If i were you, i would keep the I35 and would make the 6spd swap. Honestly, that was my dream car before purchasing an A34....

I swapped to a 5 spd. and my car runs perfect? If you know your car well enough and your skills and motivation you won't have a problem. Just read up, study, learn as much as you can. It'll help you in the long run.

if only more luxury cars came stock with manual my life would be complete, anyway, i'd much rather drive a 6sp i35 than 6sp maxima
