NO MORE I30....

For the short of time that I have had my Infiniti I30, AKA A32, AKA Cefiro, AKA MAXIMA?... I have had nothing but trouble.

From fuel lines to control arms to tranny issues. AC Compressor and starter went. Always burning threw tires. I have had 6 alignments and still the car jerks left or right at any given point in time. I have only owned the car for a year on November. I love the woodgrain steering wheel and the soft leather.

All I know is that I am spending way too much on the car in maitnence. I have now spent a grand total of $4200 in the car. I still owe $5000. I am good with this vehicle in general.

Nissans are great cars. She runns well when she is not puffing white smoke out the muffler or smelling like gas when I turn the heat on.

I will still recommend to purchase a nissan to anyone who is looking for a "NEW" brand NEW car.

But for now.

Time to decide on what I am going to get.

Scion/Toyota,
Dodge,
Honda/Acura

sorry to hear you had a bad experience. did you buy the i30 modded? i was under the impression that the wood wheel was a jdm item. if you are interested i would be willing to trade + cash for it assuming its the right year/color.

That IS unfortunate. I turned 157K this weekend and it's the most trouble-free car I've ever owned and still a stellar performer ...for a sedan.

Little stuff has been done, sure... and little stuff needs to be done like fixing the Bose head unit but no major issues.

I even owned a '99 Limited while I owned the 97t and sold the '99 because the 97t handled better and felt less "heavy" off the line. BTW: It did have the wood grain steering wheel.

Nope...no pics but a sales brochure form that year probably shows it.

Google "crazyjerry" if you want your sales brochure (for not too much money).

It's available only on the 1999 I30 Limited as seen here:

The Limited basically added the wood steering wheel and the shifter from the Y33 Q45 (which ended up being standard on A33 I30s).

Yeah, I vote "been in a bad accident before" or at some time made it's way thru a bad credit used car lot.

I find your experience odd since I got 203K miles out of my current Maxima before I swapped in the newer drivetrain. Never had any serious prob. Heck, I even retained many of the 203K mile parts on my swap (PS pump, rack, radiator, AC system, EVAP system, some O2 sensors, etc etc. I am the 2nd owner and the car has never been in any kind of accident except those with doors and shopping carts.

Yep prob accident, no way youd have to do 6 alignments on any car. I've unfortunately crash 2 of these but none of them have given me any problems.

If you haven't sold it already... have a friend at a local body shop get underneath and measure the frame from point to point to make sure it's semi-straight. Just a suggestion but if it was in that bad of an accident where nothing works right and it needs to be realigned constantly it could also be a frame issue? Just my $.02

I stopped modding my cars and I think the clutch is going so now I have to baby it but man do I love my 97 I30t. (knocking on wood now)

I'd have to agree with everyone else. Something very bad happened to your car before you bought it.

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Maybe a well equipped accord would be similar (in style and ride quality)?

Last edited by jer28; Nov 18, 2007 at 10:55 AM. Reason: forgot to clear up the accord thing
