Eibach springs + Tokico Illuminas installed....my review

Finally had my springs and new struts installed. Turns out I had both rear struts blown....at 29,xxx miles!!! (Probably from my college move out where I loaded 4 years of crap inside )

So with the Illuminas set to 3 and 3, driving around town it feels like stock!! Only on VERY rough roads do you notice the difference, and even then it feels only like 25% firmer. I have Truax SFCs waiting, which I believe will help to stiffen the rest of the frame in the event of driving over rough roads.

The drop is great IMO as well, even all around. Pics coming tomorrow

So +1 for Eibach springs!

Wow that's great. BTW you have the touring model or the not? What if you set them to 5? Would the ride be softer then stock? :P I have the H&R springs and i had to remove them, since my wife wanted to kill me because of the harsh ride...
Yeah, pics would be great

What about the ride if you set the struts to the softest level? Did you try that already? Thx

No I haven't played with the settings yet, I really like the current ride. Maybe in spring I will try 4/4.

And 19s are coming in the spring as well

Get those on ASAP. Even with my day-to-day tires I can fly around corners. And with my performance set....its just silly grip

Easier said than done, buying parts is easy, finding the time to get them installed is hard

Tried 4F and 3R tonight, now I understand why people say Eibachs are stiff. The car doesn't go over bumps, sort of just bounces over them

Back to 3F/3R and comfy again!

And I guess the springs settled, because the pictured front gap above is even less now, exactly 2 fingers.

your springs and struts are those the same things they sell at stillen.com? because im thinking of lowering the car. so to lower it can you just get the lowering springs or you have to get new struts too? also bytheway is that your i35 on youtube with the hks sport muffler?

Lowering springs on factory shocks will blow the shocks pretty quick and the ride will be bumpy. Yes that is my vid on youtube, and it drones around 2500rpm.

the eibachs on my car are harsh, suprised to hear someone actually like the ride with them could be the difference in the struts as well both of my cars are on Konis and Id say the H&Rs deliver a much better ride, but their very "dramatic" I like to say every little bump is like a bomb went off and the funny thing is the car is still riding on the fat sidewalled 15"s

Well everyone has dif opinion on what is harsh I guess. Right now my car suspension stiff-ness wise feels like my parents' 7 series.

lol im pretty sure U'll find them harsh too, every little bump is transfered to the driver seat, its good and bad at the same time, u know on the highway when there are the cracks in it and the strip of tar that runs across the middle I was on a highway like that one day and driving over I thought my suspension was shot to shreds,

Ur drop looks really good btw

Maybe your Konis are blown? Sounds like you are bottoming out...

But give the Truax SFC a try, seems to do wonders for our cars. Still don't have mine installed yet though

Just got my wheel alignment finally, and now the car rides even better! Completely smooth over most roads and glides over bumps just like stock! Well not exactly stock but 25% firmer, Eibachs are the sh*t!

Do you think that if you set the adjustment to 5 your ride would be same as before the upgrade? I'm curious, because i sold my 5th gen to a friend, who wants to go with aftermarket struts on H&R's, but also wants a decent ride close to the stock one...
Thx

Are you gonna be putting in spacers now? Or does the drop not allow that?

I can put in spacers right now, drop is not extreme enough to hinder anything.

Ah, ok, cool. What's the size? 5mm in front, 25mm in back? I think I've read on this forum somewhere that those are popular...

Depending on the offset of the wheel, if OEM then ya sounds about right, but 20mm for the back.

OEM wheels are what about +40 to +45 on the A33 with a 20mm spacer you're looking at a +20/+25 offset you mean to tell me you can mount wheels with +20 to +25 that opens up pandora's box! Those are G35coupe/350z friendly offsets there's a huge aftermarket rim supply available...

Yes, members like nmexmax and maxboost run effective offsets after spacers of low 20s. BUT only for the back, front is limited to around 35mm IIRC for 8.5" wheels or will rub badly.

Sorry to tread jack thanks for that side bar of information I'm glad to hear that. I thought I saw that you had a set of gunmetal rims to match your headlights what are they?

No no, I am going to buy a set of gunmetal wheel for my car in the spring and painted my lights to match beforehand.

I was thinking about putting my axis wheels on the I35 they are 245/40/19 with +35 offset. Is that offset on a 245 tire too wide for the I35 up front? Also decided to lower it.

The tire is too tall, for 19s you'll need a 245/35/19 or even a 235/35/19 for really low drops.

Perrymaxima, My car has Axis wheels. I put on the S-Tech GR-2 combo. n3985 is right about the tire being too tall. I have a 245/35/19 and it is fine. No rub at all. Now the 275/30/19 on the rear..... thats a different story. haha Take a look and see what you think!
Oh and n3985 if you get the 19s let me know if you want to sell the stock wheels.

honestly.... it sucks. The S-Techs are so stiff. The car feels like it is on rails but ride quality is not that great with the tire size you need to drop to. Just no meat.

look on Ebay. Illuminas I would say around $425 or so and depending on the Eibach set up you choose... probably $200-$300 for the springs. Just workin up the post # huh?
