HID installation. Headlights/Fogs, PICS
I recently had to replace my OEM HID bulbs because one burned out on me. So, I decided to go the cheap route and order some D2R bulbs off of ebay. I ended up getting D2C, and they worked, but the seller also refunded my money and told me to just keep the bulbs. So that worked out, and Im pretty happy with the 6000k color output. A little more blue than factory, but still good light output on the road. While I was doing that, I decided to do some research into foglights, and ultimately decided to install HIDs since the price of some good halogen bulbs from PIAA doubled the cost of the cheap-o HID kit on ebay. I first went with 6000k H3C bulbs to match my headlights, and this is how they turned out:

After a couple of days, the driver's side ballast went out, leaving me with only one functioning foglight. The seller agreed to send me another ballast, but while I was waiting, I decided to see how the 3000k bulbs would look, so I ordered those as well. Both bulbs and ballast came on Friday, so I installed them and this is the result:

Needless to say, both ended up looking really good, but the unfortunate part is that both ballasts went out not even a day after. So now I am stuck once again with no fog lights, and nothing but a headache. I have emailed the seller asking if they have other ballasts than the slim Xentec ones, otherwise I have requested a refund. Long story short is dont buy the cheap kits. I have my ballasts mounted properly, and have made sure all connections are sound, and still have these issues. If anyone has any info or tips that I may be missing or any insight to the cause of my issue, please chime in. Otherwise, I am looking for feedback on the light output and how they look together. Thanks

haha, I've figured that much out by now. I've had terrible experience with Umnitza, and have read about how people on here have had horror stories with DDMTuning as well. Do you know of a reasonably priced ballast/kit?
Under-around 100 bucks. I've already got bulbs with AMP connectors, so really I am just looking for some solid ballasts with AMP connectors as well. If I could find ballasts and bulbs in that price range, that'd be even sweeter.
These are the images of my newly-installed DDMTuning HID bulbs. I put in 5000k for the headlights, and 3000k for the fogs. The 3000k fogs are 100x better than my previous eBay 3000k I bought, and at $15 a pair, I got exactly what I was looking for in terms of color and output. The 5000k D2R (not D2C like cheapo bulbs) are a perfect compliment, IMO. You have to excuse some of the night time pics, my camera on my phone is sub-standard in the dark, but in person, the colors go well together. Looks like I found my source for HID kits/bulbs now. I have a slightly less enthusiastic review about their LEDs, but that's for a different thread.

Trash all xentec ballasts and go with DDM ballasts for your fogs. I had them over a year on my fogs no problem. Had same issues with xentec (I have fog light installation dyi on here somewhere)
The cheap eBay bulbs I had were definitely greenish, especially while lighting up. The DDMtuning bulbs might have slight tint of green at start-up (hard for me to tell cuz Im color-blind) but turn to yellow/gold rather quickly. I'm going to order some 4300k headlights/foglights as well just to see how that combo looks and then go with the two best that I like together
