Pinging...and long term fuel trims
On my 2003 I35 I've been trying to get rid of the pinging between about 1500-2300 RPM. I connected a scanner and saw the long term fuel trims were 96 and 102%. I'm not sure why this didn't even set a code. So I looked for vacuum leaks (wouldn't that have to be a huge leak?) and didn't find any. I purchased an earlier MAF and moved the IAT wire over thinking this would bring my LTFT's closer to 0%. It had no affect at all, and actually they never even changed from 96 and 102. I even used the scanner to reset the mixture learning, and it said it set them to 100. Shouldn't it be 0? Even after the reset, they were still exactly 96 and 102.
Some things I had done previously:
Cleaned the original MAF with the MAF cleaner
Replaced the air filter
Changed all spark plugs with OEM original NGK's (and changed the upper intake gasket to get to the rear plugs).
Ran BG44K in the fuel tank, Seafoam through the brake booster hose
Originally I had thought it was carbon build up, but with the LTFT's in the 100's and the A/F Alpha (is this short term fuel trim?) around 90-100 as well. Maybe a weak fuel pump?
