Clarion head unit
Clarion head unit
I hope this might help someone. Anyway I have a 2002 i35 and have had it for 3 months. I sold my 98 i30 that I had for a decade or more so Im very familiar with these cars. Ever since owning my i35 the head unit display has been out and showing random words and numbers and acting strange. 95% of the time I could use the steering wheel controls to listen to the radio but last night something strange happened. I got out to pump gas and got back in the car and click. My positive battery cable was just a hair to loose. So I get out and tighten it up and mind you I have taken this radio out several times and resoldered the face plate connections and it helped very little and also I done everything the manual said to do and what people have suggested on this forum and nothing worked. The day before I took off the right rear door panel because it had a small dent in the door and I popped it out and maybe the connection was loose to the speaker idk but I believe the radio was in theft mode and somehow the radio mysteriously started to work again with the full display. Before I could touch one button on the radio and it would shut off. So its either you have a loose speaker connection somewhere or you have to really make sure your battery connections are tight or its got something to do with the lock/unlock function with your drivers door. Try unlocking it with the key and not the fob.
