1990 GXE ($300) Central VA

If you need a well-taken-care-of engine (VG30E) or/and auto transmission, and if you live near central Virginia, this is a good opportunity. You come to Richmond, VA and drive home this car for $300. Body is badly damaged but excellent engine and AT. I won't sell parts - too much trouble.

I'm the original owner of this car, 188K miles with auto. In Sept. 2007, at 184K miles, it was hit on the right side causing pretty bad damage to both right doors and B pillar, as well as the body right below the right front door. As a result, both right doors are jammed and can't be opened. Both windows on the right were shattered. There is a 4-inch crack at the extreme upper-right corner of the windshield. But the car is otherwise in its before-collision condition. I taped some thick clear plastic on the broken windows and kept driving this car to work every work day till May 2008. At that time, the annual State safety inspection expired and I knew it wouldn't pass so I bought a new car. I was planning to let my Maxima sit in the driveway till I retire. By then I'll fix it and use it again. I filled the gas tank to full, put in Stabil gas stabilizer, removed the battery. Once a month, I put the battery back in and ran the engine for about 15 minutes. It always started and ran fine.

Last week, my subdivision sent me a letter stating that I can't store a non-working vehicle on my driveway. I could move it into my garage but that means my new car would have to come out to the driveway. I hate to let go of this Maxima because lots of good memories are behind it. But I really have limited choices. So I'm selling this car. I'll put it on Craiglist tomorrow for local folks. Here are some facts:

I'm the only owner. I myself did all of the engine oil, AT, brake and P/S fluid changes. For the first 7500 miles, Castrol GTX was used. After that, I used Mobil 1, every 3000 miles. In the last 3 years prior to the collision, I changed oil every 5000 miles, still with Mobil 1 (getting older and lazy). The most recent oil change, just before I put the car to storage, I used Valvoline dino oil.

I changed AT fluid with Castrol Dexron III every 30,000 or fewer miles. Even now, the transmission and engine feel no different from new. The engine always starts in less than 2 seconds.

I replaced brake fluid with a suction pump every 2 or 3 years.

I replaced PS fluid with Mobil 1 AT fluid 3 times in this car's life.

Neither my wife nor myself drove this car hard.

Timing belt and water pump were last replaced at 128K miles.

6 new OEM fuel injectors were put in at 178K miles(I have purchase receipts).

Driver door window master switch was replaced with OEM switch at 170K.

Driver door window regulator was replaced with after-market unit around same time as switch. Both switch and regulator on the driver door still work now. Neither works on other doors.

Everything is stock. Radio works but loses its station memory. Only 1 front speaker works.

The engine and transmission have never given me any problem. So neither has ever been removed or taken apart. I have removed a valve cover to replace a gasket about 4 years ago. It looked very clean in the cylinder head.

There is engine oil leak from a cam seal from the cylinder bank near the firewall.

Factory AC has never had any problem. I charged R12 only once in its entire life. That was about 4 years ago. I put in real R12. I still have plenty of 12-oz cans in my house. Last time I ran the engine (last month), with the hood up, I saw frost on the AC metal pipe near the compressor.

Tires are pretty much worn out.

Interior is cloth, charcoal. You won't believe how clean the entire interior is. No stain and no wear/abrasions on the seat material. I always use a seat cushion when driving this car.

I have a couple of brand-new Monroe front struts for this car in boxes. For Maxima.org members, these 2 struts are yours free if you buy this car. Also included for free are 2 new semi-metallic front brake pads for this car. I opened the package and used the shims last time I replaced pads, but pads have never been used.

There is a small leak on the top of the radiator. I patched it with JB Weld. The car can be driven for hundreds of miles without overheating.

I have pictures but can't post them on this board. If you send me a PM, I can e-mail you the pics.
