NY '97 Max SE Auto
'97 Max SE Auto
97 max SE auto, black with black cloth interior, no ABS. Car has 156100K and going slowly. $1500 OBO.
The good (all these repairs have roughly a year on them):
4 new struts (KYB GR2's) and new OEM mounting hardware (bearings, boots, top hats, etc.)
4 new rotors, brembo blanks
all new OEM pads
2 new rear calipers
brake fluid flush
new belts
new alternator
new axles and boots
Bridgestone re960 All season pole positions (less than 10K miles)
tranny fluid drain and refill twice with Matic D
professioanally repaired front radiator support (susceptible to rust) body guy said the repair would outlive me, he used 1/4 inch thick steel plate.
new front endlinks
new ignition switch
The bad:
rust in the following areas:
behind each wheel, leading edge of hood in one spot, and the bad one, underneath the passenger floorboard, there's a hole, I can send pictures of this.
The radio volume button is janky and the antenna recently broke off, easy fix, haven't had the chance, radio still works. You'd want to replace the head unit and antenna.
Could use new valve cover gaskets.
I had the car inspected recently and CEL popped up 2 days later. P1105 / 0105. But the car runs perfectly and the inspection is good until 1/13 (if you live in NY).
^^Other than the things mentioned above, this car runs, drives and rides extremely well. I sank about $4,000 into into all these repairs. It was my wife's car and we had a baby so she got a new car.
The carfax will show this a fleet car for the first owner. This car was purchased new by my father-in-laws company for him to drive. When he was let go they let him keep it and he was registered second owner (but he was the driver and it was under his control since new). We bought it from him a couple of years ago and I replaced all the stuff mentioned above.
Really the only reason I am getting rid of it is the rust hole under the passenger. I don't drive it in the rain because of the hole and have been keeping it garaged since I discovered it. It looks like a simple repair, but I am done spending money on it as I have another two cars and don't really have the time or space to keep this one any more.
Now on to the pics, passenger floor rust hole is last.
