Not exactly a for sale ad but I'm about to trade in my '02 Maxima with 6sp & 90K -- I'm guessing they'll give me very little for it, and would rather sell it for the same price to a Maxima enthusiast.

Happy to write up ad with picts etc but wondering if there is even interest. Cosmetically very good but has dreaded check engine AND ABS light on -- it'll cost me more than it is worth to me to fix and won't pass inspection w/o it

so I'm bailing.

I'm middle aged 2nd owner who bought in '04 with 30K. Leather, heated wheel/seats, etc. I think only missing options are Limited Slip & Nav (CD changer works poorly). Dark gray exterior, light interior in excellent condition. Profile pict was taken in ~June.

I don't have a quote yet but guessing they'll only offer me $2.5- 3K max. Located in northern NJ

(Also includes 4 Blizzaks mounted on 16" Altima steel wheels with hubcaps!)

Definitely post pics and answer questions b/c this will sell. It's hard to find of these with options, low miles (so motor isn't trashed) and 6 speed.

 

thanks for replies- private and otherwise. I'm in the process of negotiating with dealer now. Should know asking price in day or two - I'm guessing $2-2.5K is all they'll give me. If it weren't raining I'd be out taking picts now (though I don't know how to post here). Profile pict shows car just washed, but doesn't mis-represent the condition of the car - parking dings and such that comes with a 11 year old car with 90K but I took pretty good care of it. Completely unmodified and unmolested.

I took picts of whatever I thought was useful (sorry it is filthy- it cleans up nicely!). Happy to take others if interested and answer any questions.

Someone already asked me about lower radiator mounts so I included 2 picts of them.

Have all records since I bought it. Dealer fixed TSBs related to cam position sensor, headlight theft issue, and rear side window wind noise. Besides normal maintenance, only thing I’ve done is replace various bits of the exhaust and brakes (rear discs mostly; all in good shape). Battery and tires are good (see picts of tires). All accessories work (though see comment on CD player below).

Issues besides ABS light and Check Engine light:

Auto-Up on passenger window goes up then down a few inches.
CD player is flaky – plays fine but then starts to skip a lot (to the point that I don’t listen to it much).
Brake dust shield is rattly around corners.
Gas cover release is fussy (but obviously works).
One of the heated seat button illumination is out.
The fairing/shield in front of the sunroof was badly cracked so I removed it. It left behind some markings where it was clipped to the roof.
Clear carfax but before I bought it, my mechanic discovered front bumper cover and left fender had been repainted. Since it was cosmetic and well done, I just negotiated a bit off the price and bought it anyway. This was nearly 10 years and 60K miles ago and I forgot about it until I took the picts above. I tried to get a close up of it, and the other dings. Notable are 3 spots on the rear bumper that are spider cracked/chipped & scuffing on left rear corner.

 

Great deal! Tempted to drive up there to get Maxima #2.

Just an FYI- had oil changed and dust shield rattle fixed. Someone asked if she burns oil- it had been 2700 miles and 5 months since last oil change and she was down 1 qt.

 

I posted picts of the snow tires on the photobucket site I cited in my earlier post (they were filthy from storage so I hosed them off).

They're OEM Altima steel wheels & hub caps (I forget - '04 Altima?). Mounted with Blizzak WS-50 studless snow tires. 215 60 16 size is perfect match to Maxima 225 50 17 (handy calculator here http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html).

Blizzaks have fewer than 2000 miles on them. The lugnuts are not OEM and a little long to secure the hubcaps so I add washers to snug them up.

While I'm here, summer tires on Maxima are Kumho Solus KH16 with 25K miles on them.

 

I've posted a few more picts - better shots of the trunk and spare well/tools (piece of black pipe doesn't go with the car- sorry!), original 3 keys and fobs, and closeup of the left rear scuffing.

And for those who asked for the VIN to pull car fax - JN1DA 31A72 T3103 21.

Manufactured on 11/01 (in Japan!) with current ODO reading 90,909 (!). The dash and door trim kit/appliqué was put on by the first owner (dealer installed option?)- usually I'm not a fan but it is tasteful, dresses up the interior nicely, and sets it apart from other Maxima's out there.

I thought this was obvious but I've been asked - this model year was the first to use the 3.5l engine and has 255 HP/246 lb/ft of torque (~10% bump from prior years) and HID headlights. Surprisingly, it weighs less than 3300 lbs (current 7th Gen weighs over 300 lbs more).
