FOR SALE! 92 Maxima SE 5Speed DOHC $1,300 with rims, $1,100 without the rims. The car has been sitting for about 4 months so the sprinklers left their mark. The interior needs a little work. A rip here, a rip there. The engine has no power. A mechanic, via the phone, said the car may not even have an engine problem. Someone may just get lucky, but my friend, who owns the car, just doesn't have the time or money to investigate. He wants a Civic or an Integra, or a nice 4 cylinder so he can save on gas. This will be a nice project for one of you Maxima "Gurus". I always liked his car. It has a nice stance and presence to it. I'd buy it myself if I wasn't involved in my own Blaxima project (see my posts). The car is in south Florida and has no dents. I think the engine is good, just may need someone to diagnose it properly. Let me know if interested

Dang man saw the thread title and thought you were giving up on your VE!

You sure you can't pick that up for cheaper as a spare VE for yourself? You know the ole saying "two VE's are better than one"

Honestly though, since the engine "has no power" he's going to have a hard time getting $1,100. I think with a potentially bad engine we're talking $800-900 here, maybe even less. What exactly is meant by no power though? Does it start? Does it run? Does it start and run but just have a lack of power when driving?

Not giving up on Ve just yet James! But the car will not turn over, almost as if there's no fuel getting to the injectors, or maybe a bad fuel pump. I think he's asking for that price in the event that it is something minor, he doesn't wanna just give the car away. Btw, I may not have 2 VE's, but I do have spare heads for the VE since I just put in a JDM engine. I just put back in my tranny today. Hopefully she purrs like a kitten

I bought the car myself!!!
So my friend got tired of the city citing him for expired tags. I offered him $200 for just the tranny so I could put it in my car, and he told me to just come and take the car! He thought that something was wrong with the engine because it spuddered and smoked real bad. After I got the car, I immediately noticed that he had about 12 quarts of oil in it! Hence, the reason for all the smoke and loss of power. Plus, there was foil capping off some of the hoses going to the MAF sensor. I drained the oil, changed the spark plugs and coils, uncapped the hoses, and let the car run for about 2 hours. After the smoke stopped, I test drove the car....SWEET! It drove so smooth and quiet, that you don't even know that it's on! The engine is flawless. So I transferred everything off my Blaxima and put it on this car. And to think, it almost slipped thru my fingers. Sometimes it pays to take a gamble. Someone from here could've had a great running maxima, with a "new" used engine with 89k miles, for only $1,100, which is a steal for a 92 SE 5spd. It's funny, this guy was so upset with this car, that he didn't even bother to open the hood to notice that hoses were capped off with foil in plain sight...he didn't even bother to check the oil to see that the dipstick was halfway covered. And the best part.....you ready for it? NO ENGINE KNOCK OR VTC CLACK!!!!!
