FS: 1996 Maxima SE-5 speed $2800neg.
I am selling my 1996 Nissan Maxima with a 5 speed manual. This car has been very good to me over the years but it has come time to make a change.
You may find cheaper ones and some with less mileage, but you will be right back where I was when I first got the car. Every car reaches a point in it's life when it needs some attention to stay running well and I have taken care of those items already.
Here is a list of the items I have addressed with this car, almost all parts are OEM and not cheap chinese knock off items you buy at your local parts store.
Engine:
OEM water pump replaced, this is mounted into the "V" of the block and it was installed by the Nissan dealer.
New battery
New fuel filter
New plugs
Coil packs-OEM
Knock sensor-OEM
Throttle body cleaned and new gaskets
IACV cleaned and new gaskets
NEW Mass Air Flow Sensor
New Throttle position sensor
New Manifold air pressure sensor
New Engine coolant temp. sensor
New PCV valve
New valve cover gaskets
New lower crank pulley
New a/c and alternator belts
Stillen short ram air intake (OEM included free)
Transmission:
New OEM 2001 Clutch/Pressure plate/throwout bearing
New OEM clutch slave cylinder
New braided one piece clutch line
Fidanza lightweight (12lb.) flywheel (OEM included free)
New drive axles on both sides with new CV joints and boots
New TRW wheel bearings
TWM Performance short shifter
Miata 5speed black shift ****
Exhaust:
Apex i cat back exhaust designed to be only slightly louder than stock and no noise on the freeway while cruising.
New Flex pipe just installed
Steering:
New OEM 1998 steering rack and mount bushings (stiffer, better feel than the 1996 version)
New Power steering supply and return lines
New Power steering pump and belt
New tie rod ends
Suspension:
KYB GR2 struts
New OEM strut plates and bearings
Eibach Pro Kit springs (only a slight drop and rides comfortable while giving good braking and cornering improvements)
New OEM lower suspension arms with OEM ball joints
Energy suspension stabilizer bar bushings
ADDCO rear stabilizer bar
Upper strut brace
Brakes:
Braided brake lines (front: goodridge rear: custom made)
Front rotors upgraded to 2004 Maxima 12.8" rotors with 1993 Nissan 300ZX 4 piston calipers
Rear rotors are 12.6" kit from Fastbrakes with Hawk pads
Wheels and Tires:
Rota G-force in bronze 17"x8" +38 offset
Michelin Pilot AS3 75% tread left 235/45-17
Exterior:
Recently painted Lexus "Matador Red" (deep red metallic)
Installed a 1998 rear bumper and trunk lid with no wing (because it looks better)
1996 front bumper because the head lights are glass and will never yellow like plastic
Sunroof-no leaks and works perfectly
Interior:
1998 Steering wheel (thicker and nicer looking than the '96 version)
1998 center console (it has much better cupholders than the '96 version)
Shift boot, console arm rest pad, and e-brake boot are all real leather in black with grey stitching
Grey interior with Nissan S15 seats in front
Dash has the white "SE" gauges (it is an SE anyway)
New OEM floor mats
Air conditioning works good and blows cold
Stereo:
Kenwood single CD stereo with removable faceplate and case
JL Audio component front door speakers
Polk rear speakers
That pretty much covers it, I may have missed something but I think I got it all.
Pros:
Car runs very solid and pulls hard, leaks not a drop of oil on my concrete driveway.
Has had tons of work done and money invested to keep it nice.
Cons:
The e-brake hangs up sometimes which may be due to the cables having gotten squished by a poorly placed "lift" in a garage sometime before I got it. I don't personally bother with it, I just leave it in gear when I park it as I always do with my cars (they are all manuals). The cables can be replaced with a set from a car at a salvage yard if you so desire to care, I don't.
Cosmetic:
Rear passenger door was run into lightly by a dumbass that doesn't know what "merge" means and it left a ripple in the door, for the most part you don't pay much attention to it and the paint didn't crack so it won't rust and would cost to much to get it repainted again.
The car has tint from the previous owner that at some point will need replacing as some of it has started to lift and peel, for now it is fine and does the job.
Other than that it looks great and runs terrific.
No, I don't have any interest in parting the car out, if you want to you may buy the whole thing and do it yourself. : )
My price is $2800 because of the obvious amount of work and parts in this car.
Go ahead and price all that out and add it up, I have no doubt it would go over double that price to do again.
Have "Clean" title in hand.
I have all books, papers, bills from this car and you are welcome to 'em!
This would make a fantastic daily driver or even a first car for someone.
I drive this car to Charlotte many times a year and it has never left me sit and gets 30mpg at least on highway cruising.
Feel free to ask any questions, i will e-mail back promptly.
Your welcome to check it out and test drive it if you know how to drive clutch properly, I'm not here to give driving lessons
Thanks for checking out my post!
No it is not OK for you spammers to contact me, No I don't want help selling my car.
