Like many others, if I'm going to drive 11 hours I want to be able to get on a real road course. I can drag and auto-x all the time where I live. Depending on what happens, I might have to think about coming to this Maxus.

I'll stay all 3 days... but I will only be doing the show... if that. It's not like my car is anything special.

Dates, are probably going to be June 22nd to the 26th. The 26th is going to be the day at the Autobahn, thats if the guy calls me back on the rates per car. If I don't get a call by 1pm CST, I'm going to give him a call back. I gave him a few days to respoind back but still no answer.

The day that I was planning on having the roadcourse that I couldn't get, 23rd, that we will probably going to the 1/4 at Byron, and Monday the 25th is the dyno day. Sorry for the changes, people wanted the roadcourse, I'm going to get it. Since this went from a 3day event to a 5day event, I had to fill in the other days. I hope you guys understand the changes.

New tentative schedule. 3/23
June 22nd, Friday - Arrival, Meet and Greet at the Hotel (Hampton Inn of Hoffman Estates, IL). Schedules and misc things will be given to attendees.
23rd, Saturday - Quarter Mile Racing at Byron
24th, Sunday - BBQ and Carshow at Busse Woods
25th, Monday - Dyno Day
26th, Tuesday - Roadcourse Racing at the Autobahn Joliet, IL
27th, Wenesday - Farewell see ya guys in 2008, wherever the next Maxus will be.

I hope no changes will be made to this schedule from here on out.

Sounds like a good plan!!

question tho... what's the time(s) on the dragstrip and the dyno day?
most of the drag racing here open to the public is like 5pm-11pm and such. will this be a sat evening thing, or all day?

Same thing for the dyno day.. how long will the dyno events last?

I know the track day will last all day- usually they go from 8am to about 5pm. add an hour on each side to unload/repack the car and such, so it's an all day deal.

just curious to the plans for the other events. Looks like great work! Good job!

The dragracing, is going to be from 10am to till sunset. Which is around 7ish or whenever we all get tired. On that same day there is another event, Jr drags, but shouldn't really affect wait time. I'll call them after opening day see if we could get our own staging lane(s).

Dyno Day will probably be during the day.

No it's not. it's more per day than Autobahn's full course- especially on a weekend.

I rented TWS for Maxus '05 and went about $4000 in the red on the event. where were you?

Friday June 22nd -
3pm - 7pm Arrival Time (Hampton Inn)
8pm - 9pm Dinner (Outback)
11pm - Cruise to the City of Chicago to take pictures

Saturday June 23rd -
8am - 9am - Optional Breakfast in the Hotel's lobby (Free to guests)
10am - Leave for Byron
12pm - Arrive at Byron
4:30pm - Leave Byron
6pm - Dinner
7pm - Chicago Indoor Racing

Sunday June 24th
10am - Official Meeting time at Busse Woods for BBQ and Carshow

Monday June 25th (optional day)
9am to 12pm farewells
1pm - Possible Dyno, location TBA

Tuesday June 26th (open to suggestions)

BBQ food is going to be provided by us, all you guys have to do is put some money down and its pretty much all you can eat. The BBQ will also include a carshow with trophies.

Same here will Friday and Sunday... but saturday we may do some chicago shopping and eating instead of the track. I wouldn't be racing... so 2 hours drive time to watch seems kinda silly to me.

Hmm funny. I've been sitting here with cash in hand for months waiting someone to tell me where to send money. Several others were doing the same thing.

Guess my chicago vacation this summer is canceled. See you guys next time you plan a track event.

Whoa, hold up a second Matt...Just because of that you are not attending???
To be honest, meeting you and talking car geek / engineering crap was one of the main reasons I wanted to attend...Don't wimp out...I just dropped $700+ on paint recently because I want my car to look good for Maxus.

Yeah I understand that you had the money, several others did, a few local people had the cash on hand, and so did I but it wasn't enough to even pay off the deposit for the track. I didn't want to take anyone's money just yet and waste a few of their dollars to pay for paypal fees or wiring money fees. Sorry you had your hopes up for the Roadcourse, but coming up with a few thousands of dollars within a few months with people that shows very little interest from Maxima.org and local forums can be very hard. I'm sure if a local roadcourse had a Test and Tune during Maxus I would of had planned the events around it. Unfortunantly all the local tracks really don't have test and tune. I know without the roadcourse in the Maxus schedule probably would discourage people to come. But Maxus isn't all about the roadcourse, its all about actually meeting people that were behind those computer screens you have been talking to over the forums for the past few years.

I'd love to go, but it's not worth it to me to take 8 business days of vacation and drive 1100 miles each way from Houston to Chicago just to stand in a parking lot and talk about cars. If I'm going to drive that far, I want to do more than run my car on the same dynojet or Dynapack I can run it on here or whack off for 14 seconds at a dragstrip. I've been to huge car shows with 100+ maximas and 500+ Z cars and organized the Z Club's finest show cars and won best display at AutoRama.. big car shows are cool, but you can only talk to so many people and do so much. If I'm driving all that way, I want to do something I've never done or can't do here. i.e. take the car to a new race track and lay the smack down on the locals. that was one of my statements in the beginning. you plan a track event and I'll come. if no track event, I'm not going to drive all that way. as much as I enjoy talking about cars, I simply can't justify driving 2500 miles to shine my wheels and stand around in a parking lot.

We will be having shirts, don't know the exact price but they will be affordable. At the moment I'm doing a small fundraiser to help raise more money. I'm trying to minimize the expenses fro everyone.
