MAXUS 09 Drag Showdown Results
The MAXUS 09 Drag Showdown results have been posted on MAXUS09.com.

Congratulations to all the winners!
WINNERS:
Maxima Unlimited - Jim Edwards
All Motor Maxima Unlimited - Aaron Kimball (NWP Engineering)
3L Maxima All Motor Street - Chris Holloway
2002+ Maxima All Motor Street - Jonathan Dupree
Nissan Unlimited - Jim Edwards
Nissan All Motor Street - Anton Spalding
Quick 8 - Jim Edwards
RACING HIGHLIGHTS:
With the extremely hot temperatures, the air density altitude was roughly 2100 feet above sea level. This makes it incredibly difficult to achieve low 1/4 mile times and produce engine horsepower. But, even with the harsh conditions, the MAXUS 09 Drag Showdown was a huge success!
Jim Edwards drove all the way from Canada to race in this event. He put down the fastest time of the day of 11.28 @ 123mph with his 95 Maxima VQ35 while spraying nitrous. He also went on to win the Nissan Unlimited class and Quick 8 at the end of the day!
Aaron Kimball of NWP Engineering made his way from North Carolina to be at this event after spending the entire winter completing the 92 Maxima VQ35 engine swap. After qualifying 2nd next to Jim Edwards' All Motor 95 Maxima, he went on to beat him in the finals with a 12.80 to his 12.88. The margin of victory was only 8 thousandths of a second due to Jim's quick reaction time. The cars appeared to be dead locked the entire way down the track. It was definitely the single tightest and most exciting race the entire day with the NWP Engineering car only winning by exactly 1 foot and 3 inches! Aaron's best All Motor time of the day was a 12.76 at 108mph.

Wow, great times. Was interested to see what Brad would run, 13.3 @ 110 is pretty impressive!
Pretty awesome, both 3rd gens trapping at near 110 and one running low 13's and the other running 12's. Way to go Brad and Aaron!

I see that US air isn't as friendly to Jime's car as that Canadian air I kid. That looked like a lot fun. A decent amount of cars racing too.

3.5 swap, JWT 7200, Eletric cutout, SSIM, OBX V2 Headers, D2 coilovers 97-99 front and rear swap + interior swap
but now:
Work in progress 13.9 @ 101
JWT 7200, Eletric cutout, SSIM, OBX V2 Headers, D2 coilovers 97-99 front and rear swap + interior swap
you forgot to delete SSIM Cuz!! LMAO!! the 3.0 class was won by a 14.4 Running 3.5

i didn't really watch the tech inspection for everyone else... but I never had to open my hood. granted i waited until 10:30 before going through tech... so maybe da max was already doing other stuff by then, and that's why nobody looked under my hood.

sometimes tech people miss things, never attemped to point blame in the tech guy direction but the owner of the car knew what class he was running and what he was in his car
**** the tech guy may have thought no one would have done something so petty
so this makes it right, I think Aaron should update the maxus site with the guy who came in 2nd place as the offical winner

fuuny thing about this was that i got to MIR around 9:30 and "ol boy" was already there going up and down the track so he had to be 1 of the 1st people that registered for the specific event so there's really no excuse

I ran from 9:15-9:50 and the only 4th gen that I saw around then was IIRC dark green or black and it dusted me, I'm pretty sure it ran a 13.9, he was the only car to beat me so I can look over my timeslips and see. FTR I was in the white M35x

well i don't actually know what 'da max' looks like, so i'm not sure if he was still on tech patrol when i went through or not. odds are he wasn't, and the track people could have cared less what motor i was running (not sure if they'd even know my VG from a VE or a VQ30 or 35, tbh)

he didn't spray as much as he did for his record-setting run in canada. primarily because he wanted to be on the safe side in terms of making it hope without paying $$$$$$$ for towing.
