Got my new maxima! check it out

Nothing really impressive, just a stock barebone 99 GXE
[IMG][/IMG]
No options, hubcaps, no cd player, not even driver power seat, basically as low as it gets. Feels like a flight of stairs down from my loaded 98 GLE(RIP) in comfort/class level.

O wait, but there's this one thing....its basically why i bought the car....oh yeah...
[IMG][/IMG]

I love it, i hated one thing about my GLE, and it was the tranny. Im completely happy with this car because its the perfect start for a sleeper. I dont think im ever going to get rid of the hubcaps.

sweet man, id suggest at least getting the SE 16's, they're better looking, yet still stock.

time to mod! remember to mod right the first time!

That was a good choice...congrats on the 5 speed, I'm sure you won't regret it? How much for it? Did you get it down to 7k?

Yeah i ended up getting them down to 7k after a solid hour of negotiating with the guy in his office. He REALLY didnt wanna bring the price down. It has just over 76,000 miles and seems to be in good condition. A few scratches here and there, maybe one or two dings, nothing noticable or out of the ordinary though. Got a 3 month 5k mile warranty for free, so im hoping the coils go within these 3 months.

I'm going to take the mudflaps off after winter. I might get the SE 16s next summer when i have money, but i dunno, it takes away from the "sleeper" look because the 16s look "sporty". 20% window tint is a must though, i cant live without tinted windows.

Enjoy your new car. To each his own. It's great that you got the 5-speed, but leather, climate control AC, Bose and a sunroof would have been a must for me or no deal.

If you value the paint on the lower body panels, I'd suggest you keep the mudflaps. You might not like them now, but when you remove them and the snow hits, and you find yourself doing burnouts, etc. without the mudflaps and you see the havoc that they've caused to your paint, and you'll wonder why you ever took them off.

Haha yeah its gonna be hard to get used to after the soft black leather on my sterling mist GLE, but i dont really have a choice now, it was either this or an auto, so i chose this.

Congrats on the new Max! Looks like its in pretty nice shape. I actually have always like those hubcaps for some reason...

How do you like driving the 5 speed compared to your auto? I might consider a tranny swap if my auto ever dies.

Right now manual isnt very fun for me because i dont know how to do things smoothly. I can take off without burning the rubber or stalling, but everything is so jerky, even the shifts. Its very annoying, but i hope i'll get better. Does anybody have any links to videos explaining how to take off/shift without jerking? I saw those BMW M5 videos, but they dont seem to be too helpful.

After I put on my Stillen kit, I miss not having the mud guards. I've noticed soo much more abuse to the lower body panels.

As for swapping in a Bose HU, you want wanna check into that, I don't think that's possible.

Must be light....i think you made the right choice. I Have a SE-L that is semi loaded, with sunroof,Leather....ect. I would trade it for a nice black on Black GXE in a heartbeat. The only option i would like is ABS. I will never own another car without ABS.
ON the bright side is going to be lighter than any 5speed SE so better power to weight. Too bad you have the limiter on the GXE....

The onlydown fall to the GXE is no LSD and the limiter....SE's here in Canada all come with LSD.

I got a couple of tips. take ur self to a emty parkng lot and just put the car on Nutral. and just practice on the gas pedal.

after that prectice cloching (dont even touch the steering whell just look down on your feet and practice.

atfer that you should be ready to go high speed on the high way

just try not to burn that cluch it cost $$$$ to fix

I just learn to drive my max last week and I'm already parking up hills

Awesome. There is and will probably never be a substitute for a 5 speed (besides a 6 speed). I like that you still have the shift pattern on your shift ****.

Congrats and welcome to the 5sp world... it's much better here.®
