My Free 95 Maxima

Here are images from my free Maxima. I need some engine parts to put her back together which the other owner didn't want to bother with.

Here's a link to car domain

The engine has 208,000 but runs good. Water pump needs to be changed and the timing belt cover is broken. The guy who had it before me tried changing the water pump but broke a 8mm bolt in the water pump mounting hole and then he tried taking the timing cover off and snapped that cause he didn't drop the oil pan. So now I have to pull the engine out to get at the broken bolt in the block and to replace the timing cover while I'm at it.

Is a VQ35 swap easy to do, meaning plug in play. Does the harness and the ECU, motor mounts, ac compressor, etc.. all have to be changed or can I keep all that and just change out the engine itself?

Thanks
Chuck

35 swap is not plug and play. Its not that hard if you are mechanically inclined. There is a buttload of info in the all motor section. You can donate 20 bucks and use the search function if you really want to research.

I think I'm just gonna fix what's wrong with it for now and maybe later I'll go into the VQ35 swap. I have to get the Maxima running so I can sell my civic which I also got for free after a wreck. I had to replace the whole front end including the frame rails. I also did a swap on that car cause the 1.5 liter was cracked from the accident. I stuck a 1.8 DOHC LS Turbo setup I built from the ground up. I rather have the Maxima any day. Bigger, better built and way more potential than the civic...but a free car is a free car so that is why I currently have the civic. Thanks for all the info. I do need a timing cover for the maxima if anyone has or knows anyone with one to spare.

Thanks
Chuck

Not quite free but I got a 97 Max for $1000. Good shape. Contrats on the freebie.

I once was given a free 84 Tercel. We beat the crap out of that car during college. SACmobile we called it and it was the BAR CAR.
