Now THAT's a shine! (56K, grab a Coke and a smile...)
I spent the better part of 7 hours the other day with by two best friends, Makita 6-speed Rotary Buffer, and Craftsman Dual-Action random orbital buffer.
When I bought the car in August, it was clean, didn't have ANY door dings or dents on it, and the paint was in decent shape... aside from the thousands of rock chips on the hood. Other than that, this car has probably the best paint of any car I've owned, new or used.
So, I decided to treat "The Lady" to a full day of polishing, waxing, and general detailing. Keep in mind, I've been certified by Meguiar's twice (automotive and marine lines), and have a business account with them, so naturally, I use Meguiar's. They have done me well, thus far, and in my personal opinion, no wax... Zaino, Mother's, D21S, Turtle Wax, Zymol, etc... compare to properly applied Meguiar's. The buffer really IS the unfair advantage.
I used a wool pad for the polish compound, then moved on to foam pads, finishing foam pad, and terry cloth pad. I used all Meguiar's products... M82 Swirl Remover, M66 polish/wax compund, Flagship Marine wax, #69 Marine Quik Wax, and finally NXT Quik Detailer. Before the flaming/questions start... these waxes are approved by Meguiar's for use with clearcoat paints... and since the brutal Chicago winters involve a heavy amount of salt and slush, it made perfect sense to use a wax that was designed to withstand ocean saltwater. Plus, the shine is awesome, too.
PS... some of them show the debadging of the chrome nissan hamburger... it didn't match with the rest of the titanium tinted SE-L badging.
On with the pics! Gotta show some .Org love in the first one!
and here's the rest...
