My 3.5 Swap

Already posted about it but I dont think I ever put the progress pictures up. i got the tranny warranteed from nissan just before installing the motor. bolt ons include: intake, headers, y-pipe, exhaust, clutch, flywheel, solid mounts, and the a/c chip so that it works like stock.

stock

ready for new motor

some boltons

going in

done

Nice work. Just out of curiosity, that motor looks relatively new, what did you do with it. It would hurt me pulling out pefect running motor. Nicely done though.

The pics make it so easy lol. Did you run into any problems? Also did you have to do any custom work to make it work correctly?

unfortunately, i cant take the credit for doing this work. only one person has been known of doing this swap, and thats travis from new orleans. it requires the maxima 6 speed bellhousing so that way you dont need to replace the tranny. requires custom mounts. the tach had to be modified, along with the a/c chip for that to run properly. besides the tach adapter and a/c chip, what makes the swap so difficult is the wiring. i've seen pics of the wiring during the process, and holy ****. the wiring is why no one else can figure this swap out. as far as my old motor, yeah it was running fine, only had 17k on the motor. but when you have the oppertunity to go from 160 whp to around 250, you take it. thats what i did. i sold it to a guy for $1300. made a decent amount on it too. i think that covers alot. let me know what other questions i can answer, again, i didnt do this swap, just my car. so i may be limited to answers. sorry.

spec v's have a major problem with wheel hop, with the extra 50 pounds with the vq, it completely elminates the wheel hopping.. so the handling is incredible.

last time i checked the bare swap of motor and everythign else to get it to run right is about a 5k investment. plus a week of down time.

how come you didn't boost?

btw, you don't have a reverse lockout mechanism do yoU?

my buddy w/ and 02 just pushes it all the way to the right to get into reverse... does the use of the spec v tranny prevent the use of the lock out mechanism?

i dunno what you mean about a reverse lockout.. the tranny works like stock. im actually planning on boosting it now. i didnt boost because i wasnt ready to drop 12k into my brand new car all at one time. little bit at a time. but im going to turbo at about 8psi, which should put me at a little over 400whp. good enough

Can I ask why Jason Saddler's old car is in your sig? I thought that thing was totalled years and years ago?

To the OP: I already said it in your other thread, but great job. Cleanest Sentra swap I've seen to date.
