I was looking at a 77 280z for $500 that was not running at all. Maybe I'll just keep looking for a old max to boost.

$500 bucks man...seriously WTF! Thats a crazy deal. I've seen 4th gens with almost 200K miles with blown headgaskets go for 2x that much. Nice steal.

I haven't decided on a suspension setup yet.Been browsing the forums on what most people prefer for Max.
I would like to eventually go forced induction,but i don't know if i would like the output gains compared to the output gains i had on my last FI car.(94 LS Integra running 15lbs) it put down 296 whp on all stock motor.
As for now i just have my custom CAI,plan on UDP and hopefully in the next couple weeks have my Y-pipe from a fellow Org member I already have replaced the B-pipe back with 2.5" into a Magnaflow muffler.
I had to put a little bit of work into this thing when i got it but the payoff is better then i thought it would be.
Since i bought it i have put in it.
2 axles
trans bearings
new center console(new from my work)
passenger door trim(it had fallen off)
shifter console and boot(new from my work)
battery
all new brakes and 2 new rear rotors
DVD with amp and alpines in front polks in rear
G-35 wheels and new tires ($400 total invested in them)
Cleaned EGR did plugs and all other high maint items fluids etc.
I was suprised how good this runs in mostly stock form.
I have put 14k miles on it since i bought it for the $500

Took a trip this last weekend with the little woman.
36mpg and 1521 miles total,made 736 of it in a little under 9hrs

wow great find and nice start to the car!! How's the interior look and is it a 5spd?

I thought it was Rosewood for a second but I think it's just the brake lights making it look like that in this picture

 

It is black/black 5sp fully loaded leather no rips etc in leather, pretty straight car i will find some of my interior pics from when i 1st got it.

Is that the Cape Hatteras (sp?) lighthouse in NC? I was there in 1999 when they were in the process of relocating it (if I'm even referring to the correct one...).

Yeah that is the lighthouse,pretty cool area to visit i would definatly recommend it to everyone at some point in time.

We saw probably 30 dolphins when we were at the old location of the lighthouse scrounging for shells.Was quite a cool trip,i also like the atmosphere of hardly any hotels/motels in that area.Lots of condo's but not many of the other.

The old owner had purchased it from a Mazda dealership,i am just a lazy s.o.b. atm and havent cleaned off the sticky goo!

Wow congrats on the clean car and what a purchase! I'd pay $500 for that car if it was totalled with the interior being that clean (thinking about going black in mine!).
