96 Maxima SE

Here are a couple pictures of the new to me 96 Maxima SE. I picked it up for next to nothing and was really fortunate with what I received. So far I have put the 350Z wheels on, Tein S-Techs springs, window tint, clear bumper lights with blackout housings, one piece headlights with black out housings, Silverstar bulbs, and put my stereo in (Pioneer in dash fold out with Navigation DVD and XM radio).

Next on the list (For the weekend of April 11th) is the 5spd swap, short shifter, and Warpspeed Y-Pipe.

As for other modifications I'm more than willing to hear suggestions and thoughts. The MEVI seems very interesting, as do the Intake spacers. Anyone have direct experience with these?

Thanks much. I really like the 97-99 grille better, but after the bumper lights, headlights, and black out of the gold badge, I'm really enjoying it all.

Yep they are S-Techs. I was surprised at how much of a drop they were, but I have not been disappointed with them.

They are 17's on the car, and I will take some pictures tomorrow evening that better show the wheel gap, or the lack thereof.

My first 4th gen was almost exactly like that. Same color and all. The 95-96 front end has a mean mug to it. Your off to a good start.

Thanks for the kind comments. Here are the pictures of the wheel gap or lack thereof. I will say that there is about 175lbs of stuff in the trunk at the time the pictures were taken. i don't think it really lowered the rear much at all, but just wanted to offer that as a disclaimer.

BlackMax in answer to your question I am about an hour and ten minutes from North Charleston.

What kind of kit are you referring to? I'm thinking probably not. It's low enough right now that I can scrape while hitting rough driveways and such. I probably won't do a whole lot else with the exterior of the car, as I have a couple of good friends who put it well by saying "Fast before Pretty." Thus I'm going to the the 5spd swap in two weeks, as well as the Warpspeed Y-Pipe, and then looking to other things. Thinking seriously about the MEVI if I can lay hands on one, and also thinking about the intake spacers as well.

Drop looks good. As far as scraping, you just have to re-learn how to drive when you lower your car.

Did you ever consider doing the 00vi instead of the MEVI? Not saying that the MEVI is bad, but for the most part it just shifts the power band upwards. And without an extended rev limiter, your car will be just as fast as before for the most part. With the 00vi, you'll have the top end that the MEVi gives you, but you wont lose any low end grunt. Either way you go though, tuning is the key.

Nope, the tires up front are Yokohama AS430's, and the rears are currently Fuzion HR's. I'm hoping for the Fuzions to wear out sooner or later so that I can switch up to the Yokohama's all the way around. I hate the Bridgestones.

I'll take a couple more pictures of the rear angles of the car, but it will have to wait till Friday as I'm out of town and don't have a camera with me.

cool. i got the bridgestones with the wheels, when they're done im thinking of some Hankook's /45/ profile. 50 is a little too much rubber for me. i guess they made them that size for 350 to fill that massive wheel well

Part of the reason that I was looking at the MEVI is the ease of installation and so on. I have been reading a fair bit about the OOvi, and It would seem tha tthere are some hard start and idling issues still (while cold). How much should an entire OOvi swap cost (parts that is to say).

Ok, as promised now that I'm back in town, here are some pictures of the back corner of the car as requested.

Also tonight while bored I went ahead and did the bumper light modification. Interestingly enough there is a different GM 1157 plug that you can use so that all you have to do is trim the edge of the prongs and they will then plug right in. I was amused.

Hope those were the angles you were looking for.

Nice!! not as low as I would have hopped, but i guess only coils can satisfy that desire. but wow, they're 8inch rears in the back but it still looks like there could fit some more! I love our cars
