My '97 SE

Thought I would give a quick rundown on my 4th gen. It's a 1997 SE in black cherry. My Dad bought it brand new in 1997 and I got it from him a few years ago when he bought a new car. Auto with black leather.

Here she is when I first picked her up.

Besides the great VQ30, it was a pretty boring ride and the Bose stereo was not great for reproducing the songs I like to listen to. So it was time to start modding.

First came a set of 18x7.5 +42 Racing Hart S7 wheels with Kumho Ecsta SPT 235/40R18 tires to replace the stock all-seasons.

Now it looked like a lifted truck, so something had to be done about that. The shocks were replaced with KYB GR2's, the springs were changed to Progress Performance sport springs and a full Energy Suspension poly bushing kit was installed. To top it off, I got solid swaybar endlinks and new Moog balljoints put in. The end result was this:

Most people would be content at this point, the car looked good and handled well, but I needed music to listen to.

System consisting of,
Alpine DVA-9861 DVD Head Unit
Alpine TME-M740BT 7" Bluetooth Screen
Alpine MRA-F350 Dolby Digital/DTS Amplifier
Alpine MRP-M350 subwoofer amp
Alpine 12" Type-S subwoofer in a sealed enclosure
Alpine 6.5" Type-R Components in front
Alpine 5.25" Type-R Components in rear
Alpine SIR-1 Ai-Net Sirius Tuner
Monster Cable 1 farad Cap
All Monster Cable power wiring & audio cabling

The brakes had been bugging me though. They looked terrible through the open 18" wheels and I was not impressed by their stopping ability. So I ordered the 300ZX TT 4-piston brake kit from BlehmCo including PowerSlot slotted 12.8" rotors, stainless steel brake lines and Hawk HPS brake pads.

Stopping ability is much greater, I can make multiple stops with no fade. I may upgrade the brake master cylinder at some point now as the brake pedal travel is a little bit longer than before. But all in all a great mod. I had to add a 5mm spacer in the front to clear the calipers, then a 25mm spacer in the rear so that the rims were properly positioned.

So here she is as it sits right now. A great car that I love driving every day.

However, so as not to be a jerk I should say that I do like it a lot (except for your unfortunate transmission problem) and hopefully someday I'll have a BBK as well.

yeah well... the point i was trying to convey was the choice of quality parts. might not be "the best" but the op obviously takes some amount of pride in his upgrades.

I understood just fine what Black meant... and I failt to see why it was necessary to make such a comment. The car is super clean and if I wasn't infatuated with bigger rolling stock, this is similar to what I would have pursued as well!

VERY clean, and I'm a big fan.

I always have liked the rosewood color, especially on 4th gens. Nice work so far...glad to hear you are happy with it, as that what counts most.

Not really a defense... more because 90% of Morpheus' comments tend to be 'abrasive' and MOST of the time, I don't see why.

PS: hurry up with A32shop. I'm tired of looking at the 'we are working on it' page!

It's cause I'm a douche

I think sometimes I don't use a smiley when I should have. But yeah it's all in good fun, don't take yourself too seriously.

i can put it back up for you but there's next to nothing as far as content. still trying to find some cool stuff to sell that's not already easily available.

I'd love to do something like a lip for it. Would you recommend the Stillen, or something else? I also wouldn't mind a rear glass spoiler just to smooth out the transition from roof to trunk.

I'm debating changes to the front corner lights as well. Would smoked lenses look good against Rosewood?

I personally don't have a Stillen lip Kit, but they look great, so do the Ionic Dynamics lip kits. If you have the money a carbon fiber lip kit would look great with the black cherry. But we'll leave that decision up to you. Good luck modding.
