Moved on to a G8 GXP

Its been about 11.5 years since I picked up my Maxima and thought it was time to move on. Picked up a G8 GXP and all I can say is wow.

Maxima will become my daily driver now. Parts should be up for sale soon.

If you want to get one, better hurry up as they are running out! Only ~1800 shipped to the US. Only thing I don't like is the fuel economy (13/20). I'm getting 14-15 mixed metro NYC driving (stop & go + NYC highways). But I guess thats a small price to pay for a 4 door 415hp /415 tq ~4000lb car thats running high 12s stock. Back seat is big and roomy, nice sized trunk, handles like a dream, great brakes, plus nice understated styling without being over the top. Great car, just came out at the wrong time.

WOW sick, one of the best sedans out there for the price.

is it 6spd ?

TsingTsaoNYC 07-01-2009 08:05 PM

6 spd auto. Debated it for awhile, just that traffic here in NYC is too much for a manual. In terms of performance, not much difference in the G8s between the auto and manual. Maybe in the 90+ mph roll race, there might be a very slight advantage. But in 0-60 and 1/4, the auto is actually quicker. Granted, I'm not being delusional in knowing the fact that manuals are more fun to drive!

i had the same issue, but after i got a tune my mpg climbed my 3-4mpg and a crap load on the highway.

i need to step up and get my axles so i can start hitting the track.

Out of curiosity, where did you get your tune done? What mods have done so far with V?

I thought the LS6 put out very nice #s as well??

tigersharkdude 04-28-2010 01:13 PM

IIRC the ls6 in the CTS-v was somewhat downgraded from what was in the Z06. Probably along the lines of the original 385hp version that was offered when they were introduced.
So say the cts-v has 385hp @ flywheel, and there is about a 15% loss from there to the tires. That puts it at ~ 328. And you have 415 @ the flywheel. and calculating the loss that actually came right to 352.75.

its the same motor just we have more drive train loss. dual mass flwheel, two piece drive shaft , etc.

TsingTsaoNYC 04-29-2010 12:48 PM

You guys have any CTS-V meets around metro NY area? Last time we had a nice Camaro / G8 / Corvette meet at Floyd Bennet Field. Was planning a go-kart meet with the G8 guys soon, let me know if you or any other CTS-V guys are interested. Would be nice to a 4dr LSx gather going.

liqidvenom 04-29-2010 01:54 PM
