Yeah i know the TC cover needs to be cleaned up a little bit but the sun was going down so i didnt have much light.

Thats what i want

The only exterior mods i have is the blacked out amber turn signals and the maxima.org sticker.

My other mods consist of

vq35 swap(obviously)
EU
LC-1 WB
I finally put a muffler on(OBX catback)

Things i need to do are(in order)
suspension(tighting it up so i can get some traction)
Exhaust
body work(both fenders,rocker panels,trunk lid)

Hopefully ill be able to update this thread with updated progress

Props for the swap...that is a definite sleeper...however IMHO an engine swap w/o crucial things like lowering springs or even wider tires in the front to put the power down is kinda you have any plans for exterior mods?

Yes i plan on doing my suspension when after i fix the little things wrong with the swap(PFTB and a oil leak out of the bottom pan)

I know i need a decent setup for suspension cause i break loose in all of first and sometimes i spin in almost all of second.

I dont really have any plans to do exterior mods. The only things i really will wind up doing to the exterior will be fixing up the rust.

And this is how she lays now(as of today lol)

As you can see minnesota really has a number on this car.

The nice part is that most of the rusty areas are easy fixes IE new fenders(which i already have off the 97) and a New trunklid.

Suprisingly the core support isnt in to bad of condition. It does have some surface rust but that is pretty much the extent of it.

Note the oil patches on the driveway(broke off a bolt for the lower oilpan which i belive the lower oil pan needs a replacement anyways)

Not to be a jackass, but why throw in a big motor in a car in poor condition? Seems like you are doing everything *** backwards. Should have worked on suspension, brakes and at least some performance tires before throwing that engine in IMO. Not to mention a better platform.

man i hate rust. my 3rd gen had that rust on the wheel wells and some on the back right/left bumper. 2 weeks later, no rust at all.

My right wheel well had a eaten-through part. Shaped some metal to the fender, and you cant even tell there was rust

anyways, 3.5 looks sick

My brother gave me the money so he could see me put in a 3.5 into a 4th gen. I didnt really have a choice. He wanted me to have it in by the time he came up here. This was probley the most budgeted 3.5 swap on the .org. Probley ran me 450 all together. Hell i still retained alot of 3.0 stuff.

Yeah i agree with you it is alittle out of order, but there will be a makeover you could say this winter. when i buy my beater and let the max sit over the winter.

At minimal i expect to put in new suspension by the end of the summer. and replace the fenders and trunk lid.

hey man nice job with that maxima!!!!
I am thinking of doing the same thing to my I30, just have a quick question, if I get the 3.5 engine with throttle body injectors and all I need, do I still have to replace those injectors to 3.0 and the timing stuff have to be done also? do all electric connectors and sensors fit perfectly or I have to repleca it with my old 3.0 ones?
thanks

I'd rock the car just like this. Plus a drop. Just for the sleeper mode. Good job.

3rd gen to 5th gen engine swap

Hi ya doin,

I'm new to this forum and I have a 98, me and my mechanic got a boneyard
3.5 from a 02 Max, we noticed some or many things are different, I was wondering if you are willing to share what you had to do 4 the swap, it looks like u did a nice job. Do we need the whole harness? what throttle body do we use? mine is a 5 spd. does that matter? etc....

Thanx......Appreciately, Miguel
