Wait wait wait, correct me if I'm wrong. You got the 96 when you turned 16, then drove it for 3 years. And now you drive an 06 350z at age 19?? Dang, lucky you. Nice pickup though. Auto/Manual?

nice upgrade. stick with bolt ons and spray if you wanna keep any money in your wallet. lol. FI for this car is rediculous...as well as the supporting mods.

06s are notorious for burning oil. check her every few hundred miles. some ppl dont experience it at all, others eat a quart every oil change. all depends on how the original owner broke the motor in.

i did the same thing as you. registered on my350 weeks before getting the Z and did hours and hours of research. also added the 35k full extended warranty mainly for the tranny potentially screwing up lol. gotta luv the vq35 though...

Very nice Z! That car is a beauty!

Speaking of Z's does anyone know what the deal is with the oil burning? Why are some engines so much more likely to burn oil than others? I just don't get why Nissan was able to not have problems with the VQ30DE in this regard, yet it seems like A LOT of VQ35's FWD or RWD versions, Revup or not have had oil burning issues.

There are different theories behind the 3.5L oil burning. On the FWD VQs some say precat failure causes debris to enter the combustion chamber and damaging the piston rings which in turn causes oil consumption.

Some say VQ35s had inconsistent piston rings from the factory.

As far as the RWD 3.5 and RevUp engines, your guess is as good as anyone elses

To my knowledge the HR doesn't consume oil like the RevUp/DE engines do.
