1st gen in the photoshoot

for the front, I used front springs from a z31 N/A car that was in my local junkyard. I only cut 1.75 coils off those to get this height. and for the rear I used 81' mercedes 300d FRONT springs. this is actually a pretty common mod for the 280zx guys, and the toyota cressida guys (very simialar rear trailing arm independent suspension) those were cut down quite a bit (alot longer than the stock maxima rear spring). I used the method of cut 1/2 a coil off at a time, put it back together, see how it looks / rides, and then cut another 1/2 coil off until I'm at the desired height AND still at a SAFE height (not rubbing, not bottoming out the struts, dangerous angle on the tie-rods / steering arms etc etc). THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE LOWEST IT WILL GO and retain any kinda reasonable ride comfort, not rub, cause an extreme angle on the steering components and other un-desireable actions. it does ride a LITTLE bouncy on surface streets, but nothing I can't live with. it's still super smooth on the freeway like it was before. I feel good about what I did to drop it, the spings I used were alot thicker than the stock ones, and they have a really good spring rate to em', and if I ever have any problems with it's current set up, I can just put the stock spring back in it, because I'm still using the stock uncut struts. eventually, I will get some 280zx coilovers to put on it, just for the sake of having adjustability and a low low low drop. I will soon have some agressive wheel fitment on the car (on the hunt for some 0 offset enkei 94's YUM), so I may HAVE TO switch over to coilovers or roll the fenders or something, we'll see how that goes.....
and I bought it back in feb. this year for $700 dollars lol and 110k miles, now turning 127k this week sometime
somewhere down the road, I want to build a high compression L31E stroker and 5 speed swap, R200 LSD diff, tint, interior work, got wheels on their way right now....
and for the record, it's not getting painted, not anytime soon MUWAHAHAHA

damn, enkei 94's would look extra nice on your 1st gen. i was going to mention some low offset watanabe's or pansports, and also was thinking of some bbs rs's too but those wheels are played out
anyways, keep us posted on your cars progress. i would love to see how it'll turn out

you ever thought about a body kit? other similar RWD 4dr's like the Toyota Cressida look SICK slammed and with a low body kit. would probably have to order a custom kit though
you getting the exhaust done? you could pull off a straight angle exhaust like 240sx and WRX always have

and as far as a body kit, meh, I have thought about a chin spoiler, and some other body work ideas have crossed my mind.... maybe something like these australian guys do on there short nose (4cyl, L18) 910's (they didn't call their's maximas back then) example:
something I know jarrod would want me to do, go all out like this crazy crazy bosozoku car:
EDIT: I like how you can't see the face of the wheels on that car lollerskates -50 or more offsets FTMFW

while we're on Bosozoku, are those angled rear wheels even safe at high speeds? theres some Bosozoku cars in the summer here and i wouldnt trust em lol
youre lucky youre in warm climate where you cant get rust

well, most of those boso cars have IRS, so when they lower them, they just gain alot of negative camber. you can get / fabricate camber kits or camber plates, but the idea is to be low low low, and having negative camber in the rear makes it look lower. I'd be more worried about the stretched tires don't worry, I'm getting 15 x 8 wheels, and they won't have stretched tires mounted on them lol with my drop, I've gained a few degrees of negative camber in the rear, but it's not THAT extreme, and it'll look good once I get em' mounted up

i like the "chin' spoiler the this white one has, and relocating the mirrors to the fenders would look nice too.
i'm thinking/debating about doing a dual tips come out like that on my 4th gen. but not as big of a tip, maybe 2.5 or 3in tips

for some odd reason i was thinking you meant the 92's. eh, the 94's will look good on your car.
#38
yeah the 92's are hard to find in 4 x 114.3, most sets I came across were the lame honda 4 x 100 BS..... and the 94's I got are CHROME muwahahahaha pics of them mounted with tires coming soon, getting tires next week.....
