I guess it's about time I post pics of my "new" 4th gen..

As I'm sure most of you have noticed, I don't have my CG2 '96 GLE anymore. It had several motor problems (bad water pump, thermostat, possibly a bad headgasket and was misfiring from time to time), had a bad outer tire rod up front, and major rust on the passenger rear quarter panel so I sold it for $500 almost bone stock (left the Warpspeed y-pipe and Stillen muffler on there) and at 232K miles.

At the very end of March, I decided to get a new DD after putting a decent amount of miles on my 5.5 so I picked up this fully loaded DP0 '96 SE for $2500 (came out to $2K with the $500 from my other car). It was bone stock, had a bad leak in the flex section and the clear coat was practically gone on the spoiler but I didn't mind.

I took a lot of parts off my old '96, added a few and this is where it sits right now. I even took the plunge and nominated it for MOTM :noes: Anyway, here's basically the post from the nomination which has my mod list for now and some nice pics that I took from the other day.

Chris looks sick man I love it only thing I am not a fan of is your muffler, btw let me tint the red part in your tail lights!!

NisMoN00B Sep 14, 2010 09:02 PM

Not a big fan of the riveted wheel, the banner sticker, and the m4d tYt3 JDM plate but it looks good overall.

I'm not a fan of it either but it sounds good so I'll keep it.

Riveted wheels I got for $350 with good tires so I can't complain. They might be replaced come spring with brand new Moda MD6's, I'm just waiting on a PS job. The banner sticker has to stay there since I'm a co-leader. I'm getting a "better looking" one soon than won't be as big and will have a cleaner looking font. I likes my JDM plate, it's unique :squint: Has my year and everything.

18's. The new rims will also be 18's that are wider, have a better offset and are lighter.

soxruled0 Sep 14, 2010 09:24 PM

Yea I wanna paint my rims and get rid of the curb rash. That or get the track Z wheels.

Doesnt take much to make a 4h gen stand out...

Dave H. Sep 15, 2010 08:01 AM

Looks great! I was wondering what the story was behind your new ride. It's always nice to see another 95/96 car well done.

mista0406 Sep 15, 2010 08:22 AM

Very clean man congrats on the "newer" ride

OneFastStanza Sep 15, 2010 12:17 PM

It does when you're on a budget lol.

Haha thanks. I figured I'd post the whole story since I knew at least one person would ask about it. '95-'96ers FTW.

MaxiNone Sep 15, 2010 11:08 PM

not bad,

do you have any problems with your ledbulbs like rapid flashing when using your blinkers and what not?...

In the rear I do, but it can easily be solved with resistors. I'm just lazy and haven't gotten around to it.

There's no way to put LEDs in the front blinkers (I searched and found nothing), I tried and they wouldn't light up. For now all I have in there are those chrome bulbs that flash orange.

JNCoRacer Sep 16, 2010 11:52 AM

Where's the green? Looks black, almost blue in a couple of the shots.
Lovin the car. 95-96's look best IMO.

It was a cloudy day, you know how it is. If it was sunny you'd probably be able to see the green. Thanks for the compliment, I agree that '95-'96s look best.

Shift_Nismo Sep 16, 2010 03:57 PM

You convinced me to keep my 96 front end (im still changing the rear tho lol). Looks good!

Yes! Keep the rear if you can find a set of David L's.

Waxima Sep 16, 2010 05:50 PM

That thing looks fantastic. I vote for debadging of the trunk and removal of that windshield vinyl to give it a cleaner look, but that's just my opinion. You really went in a great direction with modding it. Keep it up.

321VQ35MAX Sep 16, 2010 07:19 PM

Thanks man. I'm not gonna completely debadge the trunk, but I will remove the Nissan emblem. A fully debadged '95-'96 trunk just doesn't look right to me. If I had a '97-'99 it would be a different story.

i kinda figured that that happens on the rear. i read on another forum about that being the problem. also instead of getting resistor to get led rely's, its cheap and it gives you the benefit of the led's (which is to use less power) and it fixes the fast blinking. they run for like $12 on ebay.
