Thanks ORG - Bye bye Maxima

Never thought that day would come when I would move on from my love for Maximas and venture onto something else. It just happened....a brief break down. The clutch on my Maxima went in early August. I parked it thing I would fix it during the spring because I wasn't going to drive it through the winter. So I picked up a 99 Durango. That didn't last long. The tranny was about to go. 2 weeks later I traded the Durnago for a 97 Firebird. It was aiiight. I drove that for a month or so. The T-top began to leak, and being a older car, it had thing wrong with it, oh and it didn't pass e-test. One day on my way to work, I blow the front tire on the Firebird. That was it. I was done. I guess you could say it was the breaking point for me. I wanted a new car.

I had a friend who was a sales manager at a Infiniti dealership who I spoke to back in early Feburary. I told him to keep an eye out for a 03-05 G35 coupe 6MT, white. Nothing came up for a few months. I just left it at that and didn't bother. That’s was when I decided to by the 02 Maxima that I have. So after having some car troubles I decided to buy a newer car. I was curious about the Genesis. I did some research on the car, and I was seriously thinking about it. I went in on a Monday morning to the Hyundai dealership to take one for a test drive. It was impressive. Power, looks, and way cheaper then a new G37. They let me take it out for the day. I called my buddy at Infiniti to see if there was any G35's that came in. He said there might be something at the auction that may interest me. He asked me to come talk to him about it. I went...in the Genesis. I got there and he said that there is a 06 G35 coupe 6MT that is going for at the auction if I was interested. He said it wouldn't go for too much due to the fact it's almost winter and no one is really looking for sports cars now.

While I was there, he told me about a G37S coupe that came in that may interest me. I told him straight up I can't afford it. I asked him if I could take it for a drive. He had no objection to it. He went to go grab the keys, and when he got back he told me they JUST sold it. I thought to myself..oh well I wasn't going to but it anyways. I told him I will let the next day if I wanted them go to get the G35 at the auction. I went home and thought about it. Yes, I wanted it. The Genesis was nice, but hey I was getting a G35. I have my heart set on this G35 now. I went in the next day and told him to go to the auction and bid on the G35. He told me the auction will be the next day. While I was there he told me the lady that bought the G37 backed out, so if I wanted to take it for a drive, I could. I did not say no. Knowing that I will most likley be getting the G35 the next day, if I didn't lose the auction, I just wanted to compare the G37 with the G37. When I sat inside the G37, I instantly notice a huge difference. The interior was way more modern and sleek looking then the G35. Plus it had all the little gadgets that the G35 wouldn't have. I took it onto the street, and wow. Power. I really could notice the 30 some more horse in this car compare to the G35. I love everything about this car. About an hour later I brought it back to the dealership. I told my buddy I wish I would afford this car, I would buy it right now. Oh well...I would be happy with the G35. The auction day was here and I was confident I was going to go the G35. My buddy called me at work and tells me the G35 went for way more than it should of, so they didn't get it. I was heartbroken. I told him to keep an eye out for anything else that pops up. I hung up the phone. I went home in my Firebird with the leaky roof. I got home and got a call from my buddy at Infiniti. He said that IF I wanted, he would get me the G37 for only $4000 more then what I would of got the G35 for. I was interested. I went back to the dealership, and took the G37 for another drive. I was sold. I signed the papers that Wednesday evening and got the car on Thursday after noon. I could believe it. Wow....this was longer than expected. Anyways I got some pics of the car. The only thing I've done to it was de-badge it.

After owning 7 Maximas this was a huge change for me. 2008 Infiniti G37S 6MT. 2 door, rear wheel, etc...I love driving it. Thanks for all the help and suggestions that I've gotten from this forum. I will always love the Maximas.

That's a sharp-looking G. How many miles? Still looks brand new, though that isn't too surprising being an 08. Did you keep your 02 Maxima or trade it in on the G? The red paint job on it is sick.

For now the Maxima is parked. It needs a new clutch. I was thinking of fixing it in the spring and sell it, or sell it as is over the winter, or even part it out. I guess I'll see what kind of interest I get. The G has about 33,000 miles.

Not bad. I just realized that asking if you traded it in for the G was a dumb question because it's in your garage behind it in one of the pictures.

Jealous. Good catch on the price, though, for sure.

The only thing that turns me off about the 37 are the stock rims. But it's still a good-looking car.

Thanks. Mod will come! Ive looked into the type of mods people do to the G37s. Typical stuff, intake, suspension, lip kit. etc.. Ive seen a few that are done up really well. May take me a little bit long to start modding but knowing myself, I know I'll get there.

pretty nice man, my friend has a black one. only thing i hate is that everything is so expensive for this car. my friend bought a CAI, and i think he paid over $500...genesis coupe is a damn good alternative though if you didnt get the G37s, comes with all the same stuff, BBK, V6 with well over 300hp, 6spd gear box, looks good, aftermarket parts available, but its about $10k cheaper

Wow man, nice upgrade. I really like the red 5.5, so I hope you either keep it or sell it to someone who will take care of it. Now onto the G37S... your story made me check cars.com for used ones. The prices are reasonable for 08s... hmmm, I might have to take a test drive with both you and Rochester preaching about them as of late.
