UPDATE On Page 2 - Unfortunate Event

Pictures speak better than words....

Happened on September 27th at 6am pouring rain on 85 in downtown Atlanta. Picked up this '91 golf as a DD until my buddy finishes putting the maxima back together. Bought it pretty much bone stock except for the grill and a recent paint job the previous owner did. I will keep everyone posted on the status of the maxima but until then....I'll be driving this little go cart....

OMFG that mk2 golf is clean!! Previous owner did more work than you think...its so subtle that you cant tell but we Dubbers (caseyvr6) can...as you mentioned, the grill, that in its own is a whole front end conversion since 91's didnt come with single rounds (headlights), deleted banana lights, deleted fender flares, deleted door moldings, deleted skirts, deleted rear window wiper, and possibly so much more. But thats what I can see from the pics. I miss anything casey?

Mk2's are my fav gen of VW's ever! I had a VR6/5spd swapped MK2 Jetta (all parts sourced from a B4 Passat). No pics though....

Anyways, OP, any plans for modding the Golf? You've got a sweet SWEET car to start on...think 1.8t swap. Direct drop in unlike the VR6...that was a hell of a job believe me...lots of shaving since theres quite a few problem areas where fitment was a b1tch....anyways Im rambling because Im getting a little nostalgic lol. Get on VWvortex and get started

thanks everyone!

i actually bought the car from a very close friend of mine who restores volkswagens and yes your correct, there has been quite a bit of work done to the car before i got it, mainly body work, i honestly just didnt feel like typing all of it earlier lol. once i get the max back ill probably do a vr swap for the hell of it but other than that i just keep it simple, 50 mile round trip highway commute every day so for now with just one car im going to try not to brake anything.

If you do decide to do a VR swap, try to score on a 4 valve one. VR's are known to choke up top....especially a 2 valve (which I swapped in). A lot of machine work to correct that....bigger valves, big valve head, modified intake runners, etc. 1.8t swap on the other hand is much more straight forward and power can be had much cheaper. Power to weight ratio is great! 200whp is easily made by getting a chip. Havent even touched on that dinky K03 turbo... Only thing, the 1.8t's ceiling is low in comparison to the VR. The 1.8t is quick but the VR is torquey. One downside of the VR is that it makes the front end hella heavy completely throwing off the suspension geometry...

My 2 pennies

Good luck. Hope all goes well with both cars. Have FUN.
