Switched up my wheels.

***Added more pics, check out post #28***

So I used to have these - MRR GT1 - 19x8.5 +35

Now I have these - Enkei GTC01 Hyper Black - 18x8.5 +35

I wanted to go down a size and get off the rubber band tires....guess I'm getting old. Yes, I could probably use a spacer in the back. No, I do not plan on getting one (as of right now).

Looks good although I like the design of the old ones better. I have the same tires on mine. Theyre pretty sticky.

And If you need spacers later on down the line, I have a couple for sale (new).

Disregard the title. Im willing to ship now.

Nice choice of wheels, but one question. Why do they call them Hyper Black when they arn't black at all? They're more like a charcoal or gun metal

Thanks, I just got sick of the old one's and wanted to try something new. So far, the tires are awesome! Granted, I have only driven about 40 miles on them.

That's a great question, I was wondering the same thing. I guess it has to do with how they paint them and the type of paint used?

I do prefer the old ones, but I can totally relate to wanting to go down to 18s. The thought has definitely crossed my mind a few times. They still look good though!

I think its an improvement. I like the color and design of the new set better. But the 19s help fill the wheel wells better but the 18s look right at home.

^ Thanks guys. I am sure if I got these in 19", it would look MUCH better. But I am happy with how it looks as is.....maybe I'll drop the car a little more.

BTW, both wheels are 8.5 wide with a +35 offset, so it must be the design that is making them look different as far as fit goes.

Why are you against using a spacer? 5mm wont require new studs.

I just looked it up and apparently it is for easy purging while filling the tire with Nitrogen.

Not really "against" it, in fact, I was thinking a 5mm spacer would be all I need....I did not know a 5mm spacer would not require new studs - that actually makes it better and worth getting, IMO. I'll do some searching, unless you know the best place to get one?

you wont NEED new studs...but the amount that it turns on...i was not sure of myself/car when i was going on tight turns, at all. but they do not need them in order to secure the wheel. i never had problems w/ them, just voicing my concerns

Did you get your fenders rolled? If they're already rolled and rubbing isn't an issue, go 10 mm + extended studs.

^ I have not rolled the fenders. I would only want to push out the back wheels. I thought 5mm would be enough?

Sorry, I accidentally edited your post instead of quoting, LOL.

5 mm is fine, especially if rubbing might be an issue, but I'm not sure how much of an effect 5 mm will have, looks wise.

5mm will be enough for you to notice, and clearly notice. It def wont be obvious to others. I just did 5mm on my front, and can typically recognize it at quick glances.

New wheels are alot better! Alot

^^^ Proph, you think 5mm will be noticeable. i was thinking of doing that too as my stock gle rims in front seem to far in. Was contemplating 5mm or should i go more....hmmmm

And 5mm will fit without extending the studs?

For the most part, yes. But you need to check that your lugs can screw in enough to be secure. I'm not sure if there's a rule of thumb, but obviously, the more you can thread the lugs on, the better.

To you and me it will be noticable. You tell someone about it and have them look at it as u explain what you did and they probably still wont notice. its roughly 3/16" of an inch. And I just installed them with stock studs after much debating. I am a daily driver. and I feel ok about it.

+1 I agree. Yeah thers a rule of thumb with how many turns of a wrench you should get to be safe. I think it was 7-8 full turns of the lugs IIRC. dont quote me.

The detail in the wheel is really amazing. Pictures do not do them justice.

OP, you could get the project kics spacers that have the studs built in. Ichiba makes them too... they are the V2 style.

You can find a set on the g forums for 100 shipped probably. I run the project kics and they are VERY high quality. Auto-x'd on them and daily drive my car 60 miles everyday w/o any issues.

Although I like the old set of wheels more, I respect the fact you want more tire. Looks good for what you are going for. I recently went to 225/35/20 on an 8.5", so I definitely understand wanting comfort back.

5mm won't be very noticeable, ESPECIALLY in the rear. IMHO the only time 5mm makes a difference is when you are already pretty flush with the fenders. At 8.5" wide and +35, going to a +30 won't make too much of a difference.

He might not have the space on his wheels for the stock studs to pass through.

Im not following you? are u saying the wheel design wouldn't allow for the kics to properly work?

Depends on the wheel design and the thickness of the bolt-on spacer. If the spacer isn't thicker than the length of the stock studs and the studs stick out past the spacer, the wheel HAS to have recessed holes on the backside between the lug holes.

The wheel on the left has the recessed holes, the one on the right doesn't.

If your wheels don't have the recessed holes and you want to use spacers thinner than the length of the stock studs, you should use spacers with extended studs.

Thanks everyone! Another reason I got these was because I've never seen them on any car around my area, or even on a maxima anywhere. Got my first compliment the other day while sitting at a red light. Dude in a new challenger asked how much I paid and gave me a thumbs up.

Definitely unique and good looking on a Maxima.

The GTC01s caught my eye when I saw them on a TSX some time back.
