Progress Thread: tdabboud 00'

Well I decided to start a thread to show everyone the nice journey that I have gone through with my nissan. I got the car, a 2000 Nissan Maxima, about 2 years ago from my brother who was the original owner. Before the max I had a zj jeep grand cherokee, but I got tired of the "lifted" life ha.

Here is the maxima as I received it....not too bad but not the greatest

After a month of dumb"upgrades"

This is after about 1 year

Once Spring 2011 came around I had a stockpile of parts waiting to go on: Megan coilovers, g35 Rays, 02-03 sideskirts and mudflaps, stillen front lip, y-pipe...I am sure I am forgetting a couple other things.

So here are the updated pics taken today. I just installed the tint last light, and thanks to Teaner, I now have all black leather interior.

So it has been a little over 2 years of ownership and I finally feel pretty content with the car. The only thing I may do is lower it a little more, maintain it, and just have fun driving it.

Thanks for looking guys, hope you enjoyed! A thanks to the org as well, I definitely learned a lot over these past few years.

yeah the new front is just a complete facelift, it looks so much more aggressive. I cant hate you for wanting to stick to your roots though, i mean Tunermax pulled it off really nice. My bumper and lights were a mess so I figured why not upgrade and I certainly am glad I did. Oh and the HD lip.... ..oh well you live and learn.

Along with the leather swap, I blacked out the entire interior. Here are some pics:
The old interior

It essentially looked like this

New leather and black interior

that'd be a 'subtle' mod if you will, as many people dont look up at the roof...so i'd do it.

Yeah that was the first meet I ever went to, the car was still in rough shape then ha. I dont have any engine bay shots, but I certainly need to take some; it's just hard to compete with all these nice looking 3.5 bays

Thanks man! I really appreciate that coming from you. I followed your engine build all the way till you sold it, definitely inspiring man; and your car was immaculate. Hope your enjoying that Audi now

Looks real good. That extra bit of lowering your planning on doing will really help the aggressive look your going for come together.

thanks man. The megans are awesome. I previously had the c8 sport coilovers, and these megans ride WAY better then those. Even the construction of them alone is far greater. I have an SE, and the megans undoubtedly ride better then stock. I would recommend them to anyone

how were the C8s compared to stock? was it still an improvement? *i'm guessing yes* just curious on how you compare them all the way around (handling included)

weren't you the one that was trying to get a group buy for C8 coilovers?

Yeah I was the one who set up that group buy but I could not get enough people interested so they pulled the offer. I got the c8's when they were 400 shipped on ebay (these were for their p1 coilovers). These coilovers were undoubtedly an upgrade from any spring/strut setup. The handling on them were really tight and the spring rates were pretty stiff. IIRC there was 20 step dampening, but even with the dampening, the ride was very tight. Its hard to explain you know

the group buy that I set up was for the c8 SSD coilover. These are their new coilover which were supposed to be of better quality then the p1. the p1's were a decent coilover setup, but in all honesty I dont think I would purchase them again. I cant speak for the new ssd however, they seem to be built to better standards.

The Megan coilovers I have now are just a major upgrade in all categories when compared to the c8's. the handling, ride comfort and build quality of these megans are just phenomenal. They are not Tein SS or BC but for the price you pay, I would consider them the best coilover set up for the money.

Understood...You know how much teh SSDs are going for? I considered Megans before i got my BCs, the thing that turned me away from them were that getting them rebuilt pretty much wasnt an option. so, thats why i went BC route. at least i had the option to get them rebuilt/get the parts to rebuild, if necessary/i had the time.

Yeah thats what I was worried about also, but JMAuto told me they could get me all the parts needed for a rebuild, so I decided to go for it. I am able to get the SSD for 650 shipped, which is a good deal i think, but they're retail is 750
