I don't know actually. I've been tackling issues with it since I got it two years ago. It's on the third engine. I finally, just today, got her running properly. Ignition coil finally got bad enough to start making me look at it. Replaced it and it's running better than ever! Once I get the maxima back on the road i'll turn the boost up and see what she puts down.
Engine pics as requested. Please forgive the wires that are not loomed. I've just now gotten to the point I can start cleaning up the bay. It's also extremely dirty, and i'm a bit embarrassed lol... The goal of this car was to be a true street car. Full interior, A/C, PS, Cruise-- everything was kept, and will always be kept.

I disagree. While the maxima is a great car, it doesn't have the potential that the civic does. It's much better suited for a fun daily driver IMO. It's reliable, comfortable, and has good torque for road trips/ effortless city driving.
Thanks for the complements guys!

It's good to see a nice, clean, sleeper Civic for a change. It's not a very common sight.

Too many ratty, riced out ones running around in my city, and the Honda fanboydom has ruined it for me. It's good to see there are still some people who drive Hondas that have a level head.
Keep up the good work.
You don't see any potential in your Maxima? None at all? Not even an intake or headers?

You probably don't see many clean modified civic's because they are just what we made them to be, sleepers

although i love my maxima i have to say this hatch im building is pretty nice as well.....
b18c... spoon with 5 speed lsd tranny.... civic is a 98 civic hatchback cx.... debadged trim of the doors shaved antenna plate shaved rear hatch shaved no winshield wiper moter and blacke everything...

lol, I didn't mean to come across that way. The maxima does have some potential, but not like the civic does. The maxima has limitations the civic doesn't, such as weight, and the lack of a rear independent suspension. Not to mention the aftermarket support for Honda's is unsurpassed. To build a d16y8 it takes all of 600 bucks for rods, pistons, bearings, and seals. I can't imagine having to buy forged pistons/rods for the vq, especially since there are two more cylinder to worry about. I'm not even going to start thinking about the cost for the crazy turbo manifolds it would take for the vq.....

That's one thing that I think a lot of users here on the org fail to realize is that the limitations of the Maxima are there. It's a great little tuner for what it is, and it has killer straight-line speed, even out of the box, but at the end of the day, there's only so much that can be done track-wise.
I'll always be jealous of how inexpensive it is to modify Hondas. Even my Infiniti, which is considerably cheaper than the Maxima, is still up there in terms of "blow to the wallet" to buy aftermarket parts for.
I'd never own a Honda personally, but that's just me. I don't hate the car. I'm just a RWD fan. And other than the S2000, and the NSX (which is out of my wallet's range anyway), Honda hasn't brought anything to the table. Then there's being associated with the flat-bill, DC shoe-wearing Ken Block wannabes around here that drive them that doesn't do it for me, either.
Hondata w/ ECU: ~800
OBD2b to OBD1 harness: ~80
Wideband: ~200
Injectors: ~350
Fuel pump: ~80
Turbo Kit: payed ~500
Engine build with machine work: ~900
Clutch: ~300
So I got 3210, but that doesn't include fluids, or any of the many misc things you need to boost like tapping the oil pan and return line...
I scored on the turbo kit for cheap, bought it 4 years ago for 250 with turbo/manifold/dp. Piping and such was about 250 as well
Well, it's a lack of time more than anything, but troubleshooting has taken over cleaning it up. The red/black wiring on the passenger side of the bay is from a second wideband that we used to compare to mine to ensure accuracy. Not to mention it's seen some snow lately, and the whole car is a terrible mess. I just haven't had the time to remove it yet. Now that it's running great, I can spend more time on cleaning up the bay.
