Wrapping UP 2012.

Few pictures showing recent developments.

So far this car is getting the motor redone, when I did the swap the bearings were weak crap factory VQ35DE junk. So it's getting ACL and ARP all in the bottom.

And lately I have started with this...

'98 GS400 with entirely too many miles. Needs some TLC but that is getting straightened out. Healthy, quick V8, sounds awesome. Going to slam it and ride behind some tinted glass for shts.

Please kill that silly sunroof deflector with fire. Those were cool in the early 90's. It hurts the nice stance your ride has. Wouldn't change a thing other than that.

Just curious, how did you know your bearings were bad? I'm in the process of rebuilding an old BMW motor and am curious if I should get new bearings in the bottom end or if I will be fine to just slap a new head on it and call it a day.

BTW, I love the wheels on your car, what are the specs on them? Also, +1 on getting rid of the sunroof deflector. Got a parts list for the 3.5?

I heard the knocking noise.

Wheels are XXR 009 18x9.5 +35. 225/40R tire.

Yeah list is below.
  • VQ35DE block, stock pistons and rods - bored 40 over.
  • ACL Race main bearings & rod bearings
  • ARP head studs, main studs, rod bolts
  • Polished 350Z crankshaft (same as A33 model)
  • Ported/worked 3.0 heads with JWT S1 cams and HR valvetrain (compression ~11.5-11.8)
  • SSIM, PFTB, 82mm MAF
  • e-Ultimate/AEM wideband

So you bored it out because the pistons scratched the walls? I'm assuming that's why you bored it out so much instead of just going 20 over. How's it running?

Wanted to get it as close to 3.6L as I could lol.

It was running well but I destroyed the engine by not using a WOT switch with the nitrous. It had stock bearings stock rod/main bolts also so I upgraded that in the process.

Thank you.

Car pulls real hard, however it seems to bog down below 4,000 RPM and then take off afterwards. Might be a MAF sensor issue, or the tune. I am pulling timing throughout the RPM band. AFR is still on the rich side, rev limit is still 6,500.

In other news I have a headlight out and I am working on getting the front end cleaned up after an accident I had in October. Meanwhile my fiancee has been DDing the GS400.
