My Sunlit Sand-5.5Gen (lotta pics)

Washed her up this weekend after several weeks of off and on rain/cold. Info is copy/pasted from my garage. 'Goldie' now has 160,000 miles and runs like an absolute champ.

story- Got the car for a steal from an older lady who daily drove it from a outlying rural area into town (almost 1yr ago). The drive was about 70 miles a day for her. They owned it from 50k miles til 150k miles. I bought it and it was in rough shape from recent lack of maintenance. It had just received a new battery/alternator. I put in a new radiator, high pressure p/s hose, brakes/rotors, filters, all fluids, oil cooler gasket, oil pan sealant, and cleaned up the paint.

Engine-SunAuto Hyperground Wires, voltage stabilizer box, took out intake baffle and straight piped from the accordion to the box, sealed snorkel, Ghetto air box drilled, VIAS removed, Transmission cooler, gutted precats-o2 antifouler trick, KS 470k resistor, Mobil 1 engine oil, 9qts new trans fluid with lucas slip/stop, marine tcw3 additive

Wheels/susp-H&R Springs-front 1/2 coil cut, Dorman control arms, moog endlinks, moog tie rod ends, 18x8'' 350z 6spoke "bars" plastidipped matte black

Exterior/lighting/sound-LED lighting/6k HIDS/foglight rewire/20% tint with black vinyl strips on front and rear windshield/painted black headlight housings/smoked sidemarkers/smoked tails/lowes front chin spoiler/painted two tone engine cover/Sony xplod reciever/Kenwood 3ways/Sound Ordinance B-8 sub

Future plans-Valve covers/gasket replacement, dent removal, NWP spacers, SAFC2, Catback exhaust, roll rear fenders and install 10mm spacers, charcoal carpet

I like the two tone on the interior and how it mimics the exterior. Nice car!

how is the ride on the 1/2" coil cut H&R and are u on stock shocks?

I allways wanted to trim the H&R springs just a hair but still haven't had another reason to open up the suspension yet( replacement time will warrant that consideration)

actually pretty darn good. The H&R's ride almost like the SE's suspension stock in the initial compression-then tighten up further into the compression of the spring.

So with the 1/2 coil cut, the tighter compression is sooner. So it stiffened only slightly, but still rides close to before the modification. Makes it sit 'almost' level.

i'm considering another 1/4 coil cut to get it ever slightly lower to the magical 'level' mark, but its strictly because of the success of the original cut.

Car looks great. Did you change the rear springs too? How does the car handle now around turns?

Yes all 4 springs. Handles pretty good, the new lower control arms, end links, and tie rod ends really tightened it up. I think it needs a rear sway bar to get the 'fling-able' balance I really like. Still wants to under steer as is.

Perhaps a goofy question but did you swap in actual black leather seats or use a dye/paint on the stock beige ones? It looks really good...

I took my time and taped off following the outer portion of the crome ring. Then I taped the reverse light lens. Then I just sprayed a couple coats of lens tint (autozone). Finished off by removing tape for end result.

It was done by the previous owner. It seems to be an aftermarket leather kit. Like a catskins kit. Its really more of a durable vinyl 'faux' leather.
