1991 Crown Royal Saloon
picked up a new DD, had a Skyline but the guy wanted it back all the sudden. he was a pain in the **** to deal with in general so i just said whatever
anyways, 1 of 2 Royal Saloon in the country. 7MGE automatic, 90,000km, 2nd owner since it came from japan 6 years ago. no modifications except for a new stereo and fully synthesized tuner. only goodies from Japanland left on it are some weird bumper sticker and a parking sticker on the back window. fully loaded with folding mirrors, rear power seats, front/rear AC, everything. has more buttons inside than i can figure out
older gentleman imported it and with the mileage i think a older person owned it in Japan, so its never been bagged. thing rides like a soft azz cloud lol
havent shot any good pictures yet but i'll try

just gonna keep it stock, the previous owner really wants the wheels off of it and i said he can have them if i get new ones this summer. only thing i might change. otherwise just a new windshield, get the underside rust proofed if it already isnt, and get it professionally detailed

7MGE, so same as Cressida, MKIII non-turbo Supra, etc. its basically a RHD Cressida but more luxury options, i think Royal Saloon sold for about $36,000 in Japan in 1991. drivetrain parts are a direct swap but body and interior parts have to come from Japan, Australia or Africa. previous owner was really nice and imports cars himself, said if i ever need parts to just visit him to get them and let him see the car again lol

i think they quit using salt, bought it as a yearround daily though because i already have the Supra as a summer car, Supra never saw winter and saw rain 20 times in 34 years so im trying to preserve that more so. i think if i wash it twice a week in winter it'll be fine, the previous owner drove it yearround here for 6 years and never had a garage either so at least i can garage it

i never drove RHD much besides odd stuff at work, but its not that much different otherwise. only thing that screws me up still is the turn signal switch is on the right on JDM cars, and the wiper switch is on the left. its the opposite on LHD cars, so when i go to work Monday and work on LHD cars i keep getting mixed up. otherwise as you can imagine making left hand turns in rushhour sucks *****
anyways i should have some fresh pictures of it tonight, taking it to a car show tomorrow so i have to wash it and all that stuff tonight.

you guys are the only ones in imperial measurements anymore Canada went to metric in 1978 or 79 i think. ive got a old map in the Supra from 78/79 that has a page on the switch

have none of my own pics of the Crown from the meet/show, for some reason i had a cluster of like 20 Asians around it. probably close to 1000 vehicles showed up, not much for old school sedans except a couple Celsior, Mark II, and the like. loooots of Skylines and Supras. got a few compliments on the Crown. G-Corporation Silvia showed up too with a for sale sign, if i had the money for that thing im sure someone i know took good pictures i can snag
got a few pictures afterwards though, might work on it tomorrow a bit and get some more. i need deep dish rims

so someone actually did get pics of the Crown, i failed hard and never backed into my parking spot and couldnt swing around after because of the crowd buddy of mine took all these pictures so props go to him

Putting a reliable turbo charged direct bolt in engine to make a nice car into a sleeper is rice? Are you inept or something?
Now if I said put camber on it and make the tires stretch, then I would agree with your statement sir.

You FAIL and im not inept,a classic is just that a CLASSIC.if he wanted turbo he would drive his supra or get a R32 or R33 but this car is a cruzer and beauty queen so respect its stature.

yeah its just a luxury cruiser, dont want any down time either really with a engine swap. i save all of my big stuff for the Supra, i just bag it and if something happens and it quits on me or whatever i just get it towed home into the garage and fix it when i get the time. wish there was more i could do with the 7MGE though, little aftermarket compared to GTE.

latest picture of it from today
headgasket blew on it a while ago as well, was going to tear into it but my father passed away right before so i just paid a JDM specialty place to do it because i didnt want to deal with it then. only good thing is i caught it early enough that the head didnt deck, would have needed a complete engine overhaul if it was. headgasket got done, valve seals were bad, timing belt was bad, etc. big bill
washed the Supra as well, still doesnt want to run so i think im just going to take it to a restoration place next summer. that and my dad left me his Silverado 2500 beside the Crown so i have a truck again for winter, only thing that needs is a parasitic draw on the battery fixed which should be asy

thanks, yeah it was sudden. but knew it was coming (lung cancer)
to boot, the place that rebuilt the engine screwed up. i guess the guy had a bad day and got the camshafts backwards so it wouldnt start. they had to tear everything apart again, thankfully it doesnt damage the valves on 7MGE so i just said whatever crap happens
so far since, i dumped the trans pan because the gear oil looked pretty brown. changed the filter, got some new Bridgestone Pole Position tires, and still need to drain the pan a couple more times. got a chance to pull it to redline finally and it flies, so it might make an appearance at street legals in the next couple weeks and bore everyone with a 15 second quarter mile run
next job is fix the tail lights, moisture gets in them and the guy painted the black rubber seal really crappily for no apparent reason. he gave me what looks like Cressida taillights but i dont think they interchange so i might have to attempt to fix the current taillights until i can find a clean set from Japan or Thailand. more pics to come when i get a chance

newest pic of it, got caught in a bad hail storm today. roads all flooded, some being blocked off. so i chilled out in a park until things calmed down, ironically the exact same spot i coasted the Supra to when it quit last year

so yet another Toyota may be making its way to me
found a 1981 Hilux 4x4 a hour away from me, 22R carb with 4spd manual. good is it has new brakes, shocks, rebuilt CV joints, new wheel bearings, and tie rods. bad is the headgasket is blown, the box is missing, trans linkage needs adjusting, and part of the frame was patched. guy daily drove it a couple of years ago but doesnt want to fix the HG, but it runs and drives for a KM before it overheats. things buried under snow in a field, he said 500 obo and he will pull it onto the highway where AMA would tow it back to my place for free.
supposed to go look at it Tuesday and if its salvageable call for a tow, looks restorable. my house is gonna look like i own a junkyard
