ECU CODE -- can someone tell me what this is?

I just bought my Maxima and it came with the engine light on, I asked the dealer and they told me that it was because it needed an oil change but it was done, me curious I went on and check the code and this is what it came out with -- >> LONG - LONG - LONG - LONG - LONG - SHORT - SHORT - SHORT - in other words I got 05 03 and the diagnose is this = "Front Right Heated O2 sensor" << can someone tell me what this is? thanks..

At the risk of sounding flippant, it means there is a problem with your front right oxygen sensor, and the dealer has lied to you. The oxygen sensor is screwed into the exhaust system and lets the engine control module know what how rich or lean the engine is running. There are a total of 3 oxygten sensor in a Maxima. The part runs about $80 - $120, depending on where you get it, and it is important in making your new Maxima run correctly.

I would take it back to the dealer and have them make good on it, especially since you noted it before purchase. If you have a notation in writing of the condition (Check Engine light ON being the condition) anywhere in the paperwork, you are definitely covered from a legal perspective and can threaten them with legal action. Be firm with them on this, they really tried to pull one over on you. To my knowledge there is no indication on the dashboard to tell you when to change your oil.

see the sticky post thread... ECU fault code diagnosis ("HELP! MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON!!")

Chances are you can reset it and forget it... it probably won't come back.

I asked them about it and yes they did tell me it was an OIL CHANGE, as same as you I couldn't believe the car will tell me when to do an oil change and that's why I decided to run the test. I do have a paper that says the CAR is in perfect conditions and it has guarrantee ... to the first words on your post --> I did know that there was a proble with the right oxygent whatever the name for that is, I just did not know what exactly did. But thanks ... for the reply

Take it back to the dealer you got it from and have them reset the ECU...ie reset the failure codes. If the light comes back in a week or so with the same code (0503), take the car back to the dealer and force them to replace the front O2 sensor for no charge since they told you it was not a problem.

Their line about the oil change fixing the problem was a load of horse crap. Total lie, unless they said something in addition you haven't mentioned.
