The Unbreakable (brake club), how good they are?

I don't know if I should spend $60 for the Unbreakable (the one for the brake). Lately in Queens NY auto thiefs are been more actives. Any suggestion out there??? (I know if they want it really bad, they will take it anyway, but...)

It seems to be effective. I have one but it's made from the Club. The real one is the one made by Autoloc. I feel better having mine. But I also have a really good alarm.

I have one. I don't know if it really works or not. So far so good. Plus, since I have it in my car, I could always use it as a weapon if needed.

Something to think about...

A thief wants your car for parts but the club is on the steering wheel.

Which do you think he breaks, the club or the nice soft plastic molded steering wheel it's on.....??????

The club or any other steering wheel or steering wheel to brake locking device is removed in less then 5 seconds by cutting your steering wheel with a bolt cutter.

Your car is gone but the club is still locked up without a scratch on it sitting in what was once your parking spot.

This one doesn't go on the steering wheel. It goes on the brake pedal for automatics and clutch for 5spd.

well, that's only if some theif has been eyeing your car for a while and is ready for the steal. A random theif would rather go for the enxt car without a Club than go through the trouble of sawing off your steering wheel.

Yeah but what if the next car is a Pinto, or a Pacer, or a Gremlin? I think 5 seconds won't really matter to him...

I have the "Autoloc" and it seems pretty secure. I dont know how anyone would be able to cut it since the part that locks your clutch/brake pedal is totally reinforced. The key is really weird too so I dont think its possible to pick. Seemed like a good investment to me as opposed to "the club".

My friend had his car stolen with this device on. They just braked with the e-brake. From what I could tell the autolock was no even touched.

eh? how's that possible w/o destroying anything internal?

the autolock goes on the brakes (as far as auto's are concerned), while being depressed you can't even shift from P to D.

Even if the thief is able to do such, the fully depressed brakes will make it hard to go over any speed w/o a whole lot of squeaking and squealing.

Additionally, if an immobilizer is in the car (e.g. Maxima) there's no chance the car can be driven off at all.

Well it works better on a manual transmission car since you cant even start the car without the clutch depressed.

Actually, the brake pedal is not depressed. If it was then the brake lights would stay on, even when the car is parked....

My bad. I meant "not" pressed. (This depressed-pressed thing confuses me at times).

I doubt they were able to drive off with it. How do you put the car in gear with the brake not depressed? They must have towed it..

I first got the Club, then I got Autolock after hearing about the weakness of the Club (i.e., steering wheel could be cut).

Now, I use both but to me, the Club is more of a visual deterrent, and the Autolock is the true lock. Then, there's the factory anti-theft (I need new door switches, the rear door switch doesn't work all that great).

BTW, the car can still be shifted out of P without pressing the brake pedal ... reach down with your hand, find the connectors to the brake switch, disconnect it and anyone got a paper-clip? Or take the shifter trim apart, a piece of wire and ... need I say more?

Anything can be done ... you just make it harder for them. It's close to impossible to drive a car with just the e-brake (unless your e-brake is AWESOME, chances are it ain't).

This was late 80's olds, you don't need to push the brake to shift from park. The car was found in a nearby alley stripped about 4-5 blocks away from where it was stolen.

i have the autolock one, and i think its great... seriously, its just like the infomercial if any of you have seen it... theres no way the clutch is gettin pushed, so theres no way to start the car, the lock is a barrel lock, so it cant be drilled out, and theres just no room to get down there on your knees and try anything down there, so i feel real secure with it on. it was expensive, but so was the club when it first came out. ive had the autolock for about a year now, as soon as i got my max i bought it, and if you buy it online (www.unbreakableautolock.com?) you can pay it off monthly.

i bought the autoloc pro off of ebay for a really good price. i had a choice of the club or autoloc. i chose the autoloc because it seems more of a better device.
